European Stars And Stripes (Newspaper) - January 22, 1989, Darmstadt, Hesse The stars and stripes annular theirs dear readers has your sex life gone from wow to of fat if so Don t be de pressed. You Are not alone. The results of my Survey have been tabulated. They say More about the state of marriage than you May want to know. The question has your sex life gone downhill after marriage if so Why the Survey is based on 141,210 responses. They came from every state in the Union and every province in Canada. Letters and Post cards arrived from Tokyo Bangkok Korea Mexico Germany Bermuda the Virgin islands puerto Rico Panama South Africa Guam and Taiwan. It s the same Story the world Over. More males responded than females. Fifty two per cent the Ages ranged from 17 to 93. I received 27 responses from homosexuals. There were letters i French and Spanish. A Reader from Brooklyn wrote in yiddish. Obviously i hit a raw nerve. The verdict was Clear. Eighty two percent said sex after marriage was less exciting. The adjectives that turned up most frequently were Boring Dull monotonous and routine. The message came from both men and women. The percentage of disenchanted female was almost identical to the male vote. Although i asked for Post cards More than half of the faithful wrote letters. One from Bangor Maine was 23 pages Long. A woman from Al Dorado kan.,apologized i know you asked for Post cards Ann but this is a Small town and a lot of folks know my Why the decline in sexual enjoyment after marriage there was a cafeteria of reasons. Take your Choice a great number of men echoed the resentment of a 42-year-old from Minneapolis. He wrote Good sex is the bait women use to Hook men. Once they land the sucker they Don t want to be bothered. Suddenly he s an a Man from Spokane wash., said sex went Down Hill when he and his wife married and made love in bed. It was much better in the car he said. Many women who said their sex lives were Bette before marriage cited the same reason As this 37-year old woman from Chicago it s a matter of Energy. I just in t possible to be the playgirl of the month after shagging two preschoolers and a hyperactive 7-year-Oldall Day. I hate to blame it on the kids but those Are the facts a woman from Sault Ste. Marie mich., sent me before and after marriage photos of her husband. It was apparent that he had gained a great Deal of could t help losing his hair she wrote but nobody needs six bottles of Beer a night and second helpings of everything. That belly of his killed our sex poor Hygiene was mentioned in Many downhill marriages. A 44-year-old-woman from new Orleans wrote my old Man takes two Baths a year Spring and smell of soap would be a real a Man from Boise crowed our sex life is never married but we have been together 25 years. I believe marriage ruins sex and so does my ? because after you get what you want the Chal Lenge and excitement Are gone. We Are taking i found the results of the Survey disturbing. These people Are saying More than they realize. Those who Are unfulfilled Are describing something beyond the bedroom scene. They Are talking about the state of their marriages. Tomorrow there will be More on the subject. See you then. Page 11 letters Reader says King Day s for Whites too on Jan. 13 my unit celebrated the Martin Luther King Holiday by showing a 25-minute film i have a dream at 2 . And releasing the personnel after the showing. Being such a Small unit we were Able to do this without affecting our Mission. Before it was announced by our commander that we were to be released i overheard a few of the Young White members of our unit complaining about being forced to watch a movie about a Black being Black and having been raised in the 50s and 60s, it was hard for me to understand these service members attitude particularly since they had never shown themselves to be prejudiced. Then i thought about it. Maybe they weren t prejudiced. Maybe they did t understand the significance of nor the reason for the Martin Luther King All he was killed almost 21 years ago. The Young service members just Don t know How it was Back then. I thought about How i Felt in Basic training when my Drill sergeant brought his German Shepherd dog into the Barracks and set him Loose on the hispanics an the Blacks. I remembered How discouraged i was when i found out that Only White service members were selected for an officer candidate school briefing out of my entire advanced individual training class. Then i began to think about How i Felt at fort Bragg n.c., when a first sergeant had a Kun flux klan recruitment rally at the no club when i was a Young Soldier. All this occurred in the military after 1972, yet the military was still far ahead of the civilian sector in matters concerning social Justice. When i thought about these things i actually began to smile. I smiled because i suddenly realized that Martin Luther King Day in t a Day for Blacks. It in t a Day for a Man. It in t even a Day for civil rights. It is a Day for a dream an american dream. Martin Luther King had a dream that All american would one Day be judged by the Content of their Char Acter not by the color of their skin. He had a dream that our great nation would Honor the words of our founding fathers All men Are created equal. When i realized this i had no Choice but to smile because i now knew what the honorable John Cony ers knew when he first suggested this Holiday in 1969. Or. Martin Luther King was a great Man but hews first and Foremost a great american. Staff sgt. Reginald e. Ryan Sembach a West Germany Wake up and smell the Coffee i m getting tired of the crybabies complaining about an cafes and pay wages. I think they should Wake up and smell the Coffee. First of All for those of you who always complain about an take that to out of your House for a year. I Don t get it where i live and would pay great Money to see the news and special programs. With the cafes complaints my suggestion is this go somewhere else. Finally to the underpaid soldiers i say this deduct the Cost of your rent heat and electricity from your paycheck. Then you All can count the change in you pocket if there is any. Please Stop complaining and realize All that you Mohave it could be tougher.
