In i980 he moved to Illinois where the Zillini had gone 6-24-3 the previous three seasons. By 1983, Illnois was a big ten Champion for the first time in 20 years. In Between those jobs he helped found the Japan bowl. White left Illinois after a 3-7-1 record m 1987. In the past 12 years americans have missed out on world titles Only in 1981, 82 and 87, and an american is almost certain to win the Soock Crown again this year. When Roberts of Modesto calif., announced his retirement in 1984, it seemed a certainty thai he would not leave the sport altogether. And of course he did  raced on Yamaha cycles Dur ing his entire career it was Only natural that Roberts would form his own Yamaha team and this he did in 1984, Puiu a together a 250cc team with Raincy u3 englishman Alan Carter As his riders. In 1985, Roberts made it a Soock out fit with California riders Randy Mamola and Mike Baldwin the learn made Prog Ress with Mamola winning a few races.
