With a to bar that transports skiers across a Frozen Lake ice caves under its Glacier and one of the hairiest Black runs in Europe this resort in Central Switzerland is distinct. The distinctions can add variety and Challenge to a ski weekend. Tired of waiting in lift lines take time out to explore the network of tunnels in an underworld of ice or enjoy the splendid Glacier scenery and Sun from the Terrace near the top of titles Engelberg s 10,600-foot Mountain. Fora real workout test your Quick turn technique on the Black run from the top of the Mountain. This narrow narrow Steep Steep run is for experts whose turns Best be Quick lest they end up crashing Over the Side of the Chute. Unfortunately Strong wind and less than idea weather conditions often prevent Access to Engelberg s Star attractions. And when the Cable car to the top is closed lift lines on the area s other slopes grow even longer. Engelberg s main ski area is a Short shuttle bus ride from the town. Bus service is free and frequent. A two stage Cable car or a combination funicular train foil wed by a Cable car ride gets skiers to the Trubee Complex the area Hub named after the High Elevation Lake that ties in the Middle of two areas of slopes. A chair lift and another Cable car Access several intermediate slopes above the Trubee Complex. It is fun skiing although the runs Are narrow not that Long and often crowded. There is Good Mogul terrain on the run to the far right from the top and the crowds Are usually thinner on this slope. However on Many Engelberg slopes the trickiest part can be avoiding a crash with another skier. There Are More slopes on the other Side of the Lake and on Down the Mountain when Snow is plentiful. Getting to the slopes on the far Side of the Lake involves a Short ski run from the Trubee restaurant shop Complex to a to bar that crosses the Lake leading to another chair lift and More intermediate slopes. For beginners there is a Long run to the Bottom. For Cross country fans there Are tracks around the Lake. Engelberg has More slopes at lower elevations in another area Brunni on the other Side of the town. However when Snow is scarce As it has been in recent years everyone Heads to the titles and Trubee. While Engelberg does have terrain for All Levels of skiers it is limited. Many one of Engelberg s Mogul covered slopes. Engelberg tourist office an ice Cave near Engelberg. Other areas offer a much greater variety longer runs and easier Access to the slopes. On slope restaurant facilities Are the Basic cafeteria variety a those cozy Gemot Lich Mountain huts Are missing. Except for its Beautiful Benedictine monastery and Church there s nothing special about the town. In addition to its ice caves and spectacular top of the Mountain views Engelberg gets a plus for location a it s just about five hours from Central Germany. And another plus for Snow. Many of its slopes Are on a Glacier meaning that Snow and skiing Are certain even when they Are non existent elsewhere. In Short Engelberg is a Nice place to ski a once. Check out the caves. Take in the scenery. If you re up for it try the Black run. But plan your next trip to an area that offers More with fewer people. One lift at Engelberg takes skiers across a Frozen  tips enee Bereis located in Central Switzerland Only about 20 Miles from Lucerne. From Germany it is almost an All autobahn trip. An All Day ski pass at the resort is 44 Swiss francs during the week and 47 francs on saturday and sunday. Back in town the major attraction is a Benedictine monastery built in 1120.
