Bill Reno the Deputy chief of staff for personnel and i visited a number of communities in Europe from which soldiers were deploying to saudi Arabia. We met with commanders staff family Mem Bers and soldiers. Each visit reinforced the fact that our nation has a better army today than Ever. Our soldiers Are unhesitatingly ready to serve their country. But the most noteworthy aspect of the entire visit was to witness the outstanding support being provided within each Community. The army Community Sevicca Active cities and the family assistance centers provide the foundation for the entire support Structure arid Are Crit ical to Success / a a of special importance Are the units family support groups a chains of  the information assistance and Mutual support these outstanding people provide a on a Volunteer basis a Are invaluable to the desert storm Effort and to the health of the Community to which they belong their role is key and their value is priceless. They help Bond units build Esprit and enhance morale. I want to recognize the extraordinary contributions of the members of the formal organizations and of the a Unsung Herosy in the family support groups and to express my deepest appreciation to them for their past support and their present proactive role in this deploy ment. Nobody wants this War except Saddam Hussein least of All the Young american Soldier. The protesters should know that demonstrations will not Stop a fanatic like that. Our hearts and prayers go out to every last serv ice member in saudi Arabia and to their families left behind. It is sad that they have to listen to these on sided demonstrations when they Are scared and worried about their loved ones.
