File Katharine Hepburn talks Hepburn in her new autobiography me stories of my Over water fun but predictable by Brian e. Crowley Cox news service one of the authors that i most look Forward to Reading is Ken Follett. Eye of the Needle the key to Rebecca the Man from St. Petersburg the pillars of the Earth none of these books has disappointed me. So it was with considerable eagerness that i began Folly tto a newest novel. Night Over water. William Morris 400 pages and for the first time Follett left me bit disappointed. Yet on its own level. Night Over wafer is a very entertain ing Book that Many will enjoy. I just expect More depth and Challenge from Follett. It is 1939, and the War in Europe is about to begin. While thousands crowd cruise ships leaving England for the United states a Small group of unusual passengers has boarded the new luxurious pan american Clipper. Folletts a Orient express is the Boeing b-314, a seaplane that had a Brief career As a transoceanic Airliner beginning shortly before world War ii and ending just weeks after the War began. The trip across the Ocean took 30 hours compared to five Days by ship. The plane was capable of carrying 40 passengers. In Comfort and elegance the Boeing b-314 a was equal to the fabulous Ocean liners. There were thick carpets soft lighting velvet fabrics Smithing colors and deep upholstery. Every need was catered to there was constant food and drink whatever you wanted appeared As if by magic just when you wanted it curtained bunks at bedtime fresh strawberries at the Central plot involves Eddie Deakin the planets Engineer just before Takeoff Deakin receives an ominous message. If he does no to Force the plane to land in a particular location his pregnant wife who has been kidnapped will be killed. Deakin will get further instructions from a passenger on Board the plane. Follett is not one to keep his Story that simple. There Are lots of interesting subplots involving a Host of passengers. Each of these characters is perfectly crafted by Follett. Each is credible and interesting. And Follett continues to be impressive not Only with his grasp of interesting detail but also with his adept Way of filtering it through his Story to make it interesting and not burdensome. What makes night Over wafer disappointing is that it is entirely too predictable. There Are none of the surprises that Follett likes to Spring. There is none of the Edge. But id still recommend it. Night Over water is fun but Follett has spoiled his fans into expecting a bit Story frights from the terror Czar by Kathleen Ostrander up just when you thought you be read the scariest of series the car of terrors comes along with a Book with tales to make you Citi Ige behind the chair with the lights on for Day s.
