Osterholz is scheduled to close its doors this Spring and the pangs of draw Down have become too severe to continue team Competition. We arc Down to 28 students in grades 9 through12 because of the draw Down Saddlemire said Mon Day. The situation reached the Point that we were unable to dress enough players to Field any kind of a team. In fact two weeks ago in a girls game we Fin. Shed with Only three players on the floor. So the basketball season is Over for us. I was hoping we could finish the season and play in the tournament but things did t work out that  the three Blackhawk who comprise the osterholz wrestling team will continue their Competition this week in the division Iii championships at Giessen and will Advance to the Central european championships should they qualify. Will Wicks finished Sec ond at 122 pounds Albert Lemaire was fourth at 129 and Sam Nerette took third at 160 in last week s division ill North championship. Wrestling like track and Field is an individually stressed activity Saddlemire continued. Therefore our three wrestlers will continue to compete. It will be the same in the Spring. We won t have a girls or boys soccer team but there Are several individuals Here who might be Able to accomplish something in track and Field. And we Hope to be Able to give them the  Winter tournament action got under Way last weekend when division i i East West and Divi Sion ill North South conference wrestling championships were determined. Nurnberg accent Giessen and Vilseck walked off with the respective  champions were the Only things deter mined in those four meets and All wrestlers from All the schools involved take to the Mats again Friday and saturday when the division championships which determine the Field for next week s Central european tournament at Heidelberg unfurl. Hanau which has completed its league schedule clinched ii East laurels last  and International school of Brussels go into their showdown in Brussels this weekend tied for the division ii West boys Lead with 5-1 logs. Bonn and Fulda Are deadlocked for the division ill North Lead with 9-3 records and Berlin leads ans Bach by a game in division ill South and they collide head on at Ansbach. Heidelberg s girls clinched a tic for the division i title tuesday with a win Over Kaiserslautern. The undefeated lady Lions who Lead Frankfurt by a game entertain the eagles in the season finale at Palton Barracks on  has clinched a share of the division ii West title but the spartans who have non Confer ence games against Hanau this weekend will have to share that title if accent and is both win twice Over the weekend. Kaiserslautern s Emily Mcclanahan Frankfurt s Aundria Sparrow shape s Jackie Banks in Ciurlik s Sanitra Perry Bonn s Liat Ofir and Fulda s Paula Jordan were other girls who put exciting numbers on the Board. Mcclanahan tallied 28 Points against Kaiserslautern Sparrow had 19 Points 10 rebounds seven assists and eight steals against Wil Ryburg and 19 Points seven boards and six assists against Wiesbaden. Banks enjoyed two outstanding games against Baum Holder scoring 12 Points and hauling Down 12 re Bounds in Friday s opener and registering 25 Points 13 rebounds and three steals saturday. Turkey opened its very Short Winter season with triangular Competition at in Ciurlik and the Yodjas Perry scored 22 Points against Ankara and 28 against Izmir. Turkey schools have Only three weekends of Competition counting the playoffs. Ofir followed a 24-Point, 10-Rcbound, 14-Stcal game against bad or Cugnach with a 30-Point Effort against the bearcats and Jordan scored 53 Points and hauled Down 36 rebounds As Fulda took a pair from . Whitaker played Only one game but he had 37 Points 12 rebounds and 10 assists against Pitburg As the panthers wrapped up the league title with an overtime Victory against the Barons. Hanau s other scheduled game last week against Mannheim was played two weeks earlier because of a conflict Over the use of the Hanau base gymnasium Bingo had priority Over High school basketball. Kaiserslautern s Willie Yarburough Croughton s Clint Brown Bonn s Gilt Yaniv and  s Booker Washington pushed Whitaker in the Battle for the boys accolades. Yarborough scored 18 Points and cleared 12 boards against Ramstein and chalked up 26 Points in a win Over Wiesbaden. Brown the . S top scorer with a 23.2 average notched 21 Points and had 12 rebounds against Lon Don and then scored 28 Points in a losing cause at Lakin  recorded 37 Points and grabbed 26 rebounds As Bonn swept a pair from bad or Cugnach and Washington posted 25-Point, 26-Board and 24-Point 11-Board games As  and Fulda split. The Dodds All stars will be competing in the International basketball tournament in chateau Roux France april 30-May 2 instead of the Cholet tournament Leblanc penned. As of this Date Jan. 22i have received no information from Cholet Leblanc continued. In the past the tournament invitation and information Al ways was sent out in late november. I sent a fax Jan. 5 inquiring about the 1993 tournament and Al though we have the receipt verifying the arrival of the fax we still Haven t received any further information. As a result i contacted the president of the Cha Tea Roux entente club and he is elated about our participation in the tournament. I suspect that the Cholet officials now View Riverside As their Ameri can drawing card and perhaps they Don t need two Usa teams. That is speculation on my part Riverside is the outstanding new York City team which won the last two tournaments. Leblanc pointed out that the top Dodds Basket Ball players will have the Opportunity to try out for both the Albert Schweitzer and chateau Roux tournaments because there is no scheduling conflict this year. Albert Schweitzer takes place april 10-17. Tryout information for both tournaments will be re leased shortly. Tai Stan and strip
