Manners needed this letter is in response to the two let ters on keep kids both writers failed to understand the important letter regarding civility and Courtesy. The writer is not asking anyone to abuse children in order to control a Young child and he in t discouraging youngsters attending Church services. He and i ask that parents be aware of their children s actions and display some manners and Breeding. I would not limit this Courtesy to churches Only. Let s in clude movies and other Public gatherings. Some suggestions Are to sit in seat next to the aisle near an exit or in the rear so that an unobtrusive removal of the misbehaving child will not be a Dis traction. No one comes to a Public even Tor a Church service to listen to a child cause a disturbance or hear now jus Stop that Over and Over. I Don t think anyone would accuse a Parent of child abuse if he she shows concern for others by taking the child outside or into the lobby until the child s behaviour please Don t wait until it s the Middle of the Sermon or Augsburg Germany Why Only Ramstein it was Nice to see that a new dental clinic opened at Ramstein elementary school. I am glad to see that dependents Are having their dental care needs take care of somewhere. I do find it inter Esting that this sort of service is available at a base that holds the highest numbers of colonels and generals so their family members Are Well serviced. We Are stationed at dental clinic consists of four dentists. We Are told to phone in or better yet physically show up at our clinic on the first Day of your spouse s birthday month at 7 45 . And try to get in for your an Nual cleaning. If you do not reach them on the first Day of the month you can forget about getting in an appointment that year. You do have the option of sitting an waiting five Days a week to try to get a cleaning but appointments Are so sought after it is rare if there is a cancellation. If you Are Lucky enough to get a cleaning and anything is wrong be prepared to Goon the Economy to have the work done. You will pay out of your pocket for Allex lenses incurred. You see Delta dental is not available to us overseas because All our Are supposedly taken care of. Be prepared to experience German dentistry and just remember your parents sur Vived the dentistry of the 50s. What you child needs braces if you live at Ramstein a you re covered. An enlisted Active duty service member at our base is currently paying for his own. The Bill is now at $2,500 and growing. This was not cosmetic but medically required. Ramstein would not take him. It was to full. Our dental clinic tries hard but the Money is not available for additional help to provide Basic care. In fact our person Nel Are being Cut As our population continues to grow. Four dentists cannot Han dle our population. If the Money is not there then maybe we should rethink How we spend our Money. Maybe we should close the Golf course at Ramstein a and divert the funds so we can find a few dollars for other bases Basic medical heeds. Ann Germany. Wrong comparison in comparing firearm deaths with traffic accidents the Federal centers for Dis ease control and prevention is compar ing apples and oranges. Cd officials recombining firearm homicides with suicides and accidents. Then they compar that to traffic accidents a comparison no other educated social scientist would make unless he needed to inflate his numbers. The proper firearm Acci dents with traffic accidents accidental death by firearms of All types accounted for less than 2 percent of All accidental deaths in 1991. By contrast accidental death by motor vehicles accounted forever 50 percent of accidental deaths Dur ing the same time Frame. Of course we know that the motor vehicle is rarely used in intentional homicide. The hand guns and knives Are preferred followed by shotguns and rifles. As for suicides americans prefer the firearm. However evidence indicates that where a firearm snot available other equally deadly Means Are substituted. This does not mean that there Are no measures that we As a country can take to reduce firearm accidents murder with any weapon and suicides by any Means. As for firearm accidents Educa Tion is the key to prevention. The nation. Al Rifle association has the Best firearms education program in the country and i usually willing to provide it free of charge or at minimal Cost. Many commentators have already said that we must resolve the dissolution of the american family if we Are to solve the violence in our country. This includes both homicide and suicide. The problem goes far deeper than the private ownership of firearms. We have already Trie Banning alcohol to solve our Domestic problems. That did t work and Bannin firearms won t either. Theme Park in Northern Virginia would create thousands of jobs some planners warn that Many of the workers would make relatively Low wages would pay Little in taxes and could Strain govern ment services. Company officials said they Don t know yet How much workers would make a their proposed Disney s America in Prince William county but workers a Disney world in Orlando fla., make an average of about $10 an hour according to government officials there. A Disney spokeswoman said this week that wages for the 2,700 jobs in the Northern Virginia Park might be higher to keep Pace with the higher Cost of living in the Washington . Area. In Prince William retail jobs pay an average of $13,000 annually while service jobs pay As much As $25,000, according to Virginia state figures. The jobs that would be created have been cited As a major plus of the Disney project. A study commissioned by gov. George Allen predicted that the Par would create 19,445 jobs statewide by 2007, in addition to the 2,700 in the Park. But economists also have projected that More than 80 percent of those spinoff jobs would be in the relatively Low paying retail and service sectors. In tourist meccas such As Souther California and the Orlando area some planners say that because most jobs Cre ated by the influx of visitors pay Low wages to workers who then pay less in taxes the workers become very expensive citizens for governments to serve. You get an awful lot of turnover in these Low wage Are Youn people. Since they Are so Low wage the Community in t going to make any tax Money off them said George Grier an economist with the greater Washington research Center. And they Are not Homeowner types. These people Aren t going to afford because they Are paid relatively ittle Many need extra government serv ices. In Florida local governments Are struggling to provide affordable housing to thousands of service employees work ing in tourist businesses and Disney recently agreed to help build two apart ment complexes for Low income families in Orlando. Partly because More than 57 percent of the Orlando area s jobs Are inthe retail and service sectors economists said growth in per capita income there has not kept Pace with the statewide average during the last 20 Southern California which ranks ahead of the Washington area and be Hind Orlando As a tourist destination san Diego officials said that during the booming 80s, growth in per capita in come there trailed that of the nation by a wide margin even though there was growth in the number of jobs available.
