The stars and stripes ports february 11,1994 page40 Bud Wilkinson Dies at age 77 Yowe Canfield Oklahoma City a Bud Wilkinson who turned Oklahoma s football program into a dynasty during the 1940s and 1950s, died at his St. Louis Home after a Long illness. He was 77. Wilkinson won three National championships at Oklahoma and coached the sooner to an Mcaa record 47 straight victories before retiring in 1963 when he was just 47. He died at 11 40 . Wednesday with his wife Donna and youngest son Jay at his Side. Wilkinson who earned a reputation for class and excellence during his career underwent sur Gery recently to re pair a heart defect he died of congestive heart failure. He had also had suffered a series of strokes the last of which in november destroyed much of his vision.
