They give resources and outlets in the Community for those people. They Lead the Public to believe help is readily available. The hardest thing used to be admitting that one has a mental illness or is suffering from depression or contemplating death Over life. Now the hardest thing to do is find the medical treatment one needs a. A i realize being with your spouse in Europe is a privilege a one that the military can take away from you at its discretion. I also realize that medical treatment is a privilege even though most of us look at it As a necessity. Why is it that family members Are Only Able to get a a band aids Here in Europe the pitiful thing is that it is the kind of band Aid that pops off As soon As one flexes or gets it Damp. Nothing is Ever a fixed a a a cured or a a resolved Here. If you suffer from depression you Are allowed to be a a ill for Only a few weeks if you done to respond quickly enough or if. The depression returns the Only solution the doctors have is to Send you Back to the states for medical treatment that s available on a More frequent basis a they done to have the staff to Deal with any Long term care. Any idea How much it costs the government to do Early returns seems like it would be cheaper to bring Over a few More psychiatrists. Our general practitioners Are not allowed to follow up on any cases a its not for Lack of concern but Lack of time. Twice in be been told yes its a tumor or a Lump come Back in six months for another mammography or ultrasound what happens in six months will it be so Large that it now costs thousands of dollars to remove not to mention if chemotherapy is necessary then the costs really soar. We have Brilliant doctors and dentists that Are not allowed to practice their talents but must act As first Aid specialists. As family members we Are forced to either sacrifice our health and our mental Well being or surrender our family unit of being together in one place at the same a a a a a a a Nancy Sld Lcy Baum older Germany. Most teachers would enjoy the cuisine talk with their International counterparts and share the a idea of internationalism without having a Beer and a smoke to feel part of the culture. An integral part of acceptance of other cultures is to understand those things which Are not allowed in a specific culture. Pushing someone to do something which is against the rules in their culture is also being a culture perhaps the embarrassment concerning the offer of a Beer was entered toward the person who insisted the americans have a Beer rather than toward the americans themselves. A Deborah Stafford a Turnberg Germany a a fed up with Mazda in response to a fed up with Nissan april 16 in which a military couple stationed in Germany related their frustrations and difficulties with Nissan. Substitute a a Mazda for a Nissan a and i could have written that letter. I bought a new Mazda mx-6 in 1990 and have been battling the Mazda corporation Versi Nelto six a major water leakage problem. Kirin showers leave water fat tag my trunk. Heavy rainstorms leave water standing inside my car. Stationed in Guam when the problem surfaced i wrote six letters to numerous Mazda offices stateside. Neither Mazda nor the Dealership that sold me the car Ever responded to my correspondence. It took a personal visit by my parents living in the la Crosse wis., area for the Dealership to acknowledge my problem. Then despite Mazda a advertised warranty with claims to cover vehicles a Regis Terea Aind operated in Guam Mazda refused to Honor my warranty. They claimed that once i took the vehicle out of the United states they were no longer responsible a despite what their warranty said unethical to say the least. I eventually persuaded Mazda Japan to step in and authorize repairs to my vehicle. Four years later after numerous trips to Mazda or Mazda approved service centers i am no closer to having this problem resolved. No service Center can find the Root of the problem. I have spent a significant amount of my own Money and time attempting to reach a solution. Each step of the process has required numerous Long distance phone Calls faxes and personal letters All initiated by me to Force Mazda to take action. / my March 1994 trip to a service Center Cost me $250. I am still waiting for the promised reimbursement. Meanwhile rust is forming on my car and i am experiencing problems with the electrical system. A my next vehicle definitely wont be a Mazda. I guess it wont be a Nissan either. A. A. A. A a a a a a a a it. Ann Leonard Londo parents needed caning i surprised myself the other Day. I was in Complete agreement with president Clinton a Michael Fay should not have been however that was the extent of our Short lived agreement. 1 am of the opinion that George Fay and Randy Chan a his parents a should have been. What excellent role models Michael Fay and his parents not to mention Tonya Harding have proven to be. What better Road to wealth and talk shows than to have committed a crime and to have been convicted of that crime. The president stated that a the punishment did not fit the what a wonderful commentary on the administrations Tough new anti crime legislation. Did Michael Fay suffer permanent emotional and physical scars it is time that we a society a redirect our focus from the Vandal and criminal to the innocent victim. With All of the press a hype a George Fay and Randy Chan would have us believe that their son was the Only victim and that the innocent victims of Michael Fay a vandalism should simply laugh it off As a Boyish prank smile and go about their lives As if nothing had Ever happened. Victims too can be scarred for life. A Richard t. Donahue Frankfurt Germany a a protect society what Good does it do parents to teach their children the danger of misusing handguns Only to have them gunned Down at school by a fellow student whose parents Are not As concerned or to spend millions of dollars on programs to educate our youth on the dangers of drugs Only to have them victimized by drug lords in a drive by shooting or to teach our daughters the value and Sanctity of life Only to have them assaulted raped and tortured by a psychopath acting out the message in a song he just heard we can no longer protect our children by instilling our own values into them As Long As there is an accepted element of society with an opposite set of values actively undermining our efforts. There Are two cultures at War in our society that transcend All racial and economic boundaries. One follows the ethic of preserving the life and dignity of each member of society. The other culture follows an ethic of seeking thrills and immediate gratification at the expense of helpless and often innocent victims the first ethic is being taught by parents to the child with fewer and fewer role models to follow. The second More pervasive ethic is being screamed and reinforced through television radio and the Media. And the ethic that is More sensational is changing the fabric of society to its own destruction. Just As there will always be those who continue to deny the damages of smoking there will always be those who refuse to believe watching violence has any effect on the viewer. A a 1 certainly there Are enough concerned parents grandparents and teachers to get the attention of our lawmakers and television sponsors to convince them they have a compelling interest to protect our society from its present course of self destruction. _ a Bonnie Bochchi Wiesbaden German Force Law and order this letter is about the trials and tribulations i keep Reading about concerning the inability to keep Law and order in the department of defense dependents schools and the government housing areas parents Lack of interest in attending briefings at the schools apparent disinterest in complying with group living rules made for the Benefit of housing residents and the Protection of government and private property therein. It appears to me that the commanders Are not commanding and the leaders Are not leading. Rather than bringing much of the military and their family members up to military standards they Are allowing Many of these people to bring the military Down to Low standards. The solution very simple. An orientation briefing should be composed by the highest Headquarters in the command outlining the does and done to and reasons therefore and disseminated to All commands to include the requirement for All parents with children in school to attend school sponsored briefings supervision and counselling of their children Etc. Have this orientation reduced to writing in simple a by the numbers sentences. Declare these items a direct orders and have sponsors sign the documents. Briefings should be conducted by officers for officers and by senior noncommissioned officers for enlisted personnel civil service personnel by equivalent rank military civilian personnel or whatever Legal Chain of command is appropriate. Deal with violators swiftly and severely and publish the results command wide. For Volunteer personnel living in government quarters is a privilege attending Dodds schools is also a privilege As is operating a privately owned vehicle. A Edward a.
