Storm trooper last weekend at the shop Pette i saw an incident that really upset me. An individual was buying some items when the checker asked for his id card. He said that he had left it in the car and apparently the checker accepted this answer and started to ring up his Purchase. Then an older individual came up told them to Stop and started Yelling at the Man and the checker. He never said who or what he was but i assumed he was a Mili tary policeman because he had a radio in his hand. Well a big argument started and the Man with the radio told the checker to Clos Down the line. He overlooked the fact that this was the video line and there were numerous people waiting to rent videos. A few minutes later real military police came and escorted everyone away. I could t believe this Man s actions. After seeing the Way he acted i could understand Why people do not like maps. But 1 later found out that this Man in t even a policeman or a Soldier he is a civilian who works at the my station. When i found this out i called the maps to make a complaint about the Way this Guy acted and who was he to act like a storm i was told by the investigator i complained to that they were not allowed to question his unprofessional behaviour that they were ordered by this same person not to talk to anyone about this. Apparently this Man thinks he is above the Law andean Tell maps to leave him alone. Who does he think he is Richard Nixon Cecilia Baker Darmstadt Germany begin. Women and men in the military must work together consistently there fore it Only makes sense to begin training them to think that Way. Coed Basic train ing is the first step to eliminate the separatist attitudes which strangle holds to Day s military from becoming truly no gender Ross should know that there Are Many women who exceed not Only the army Standard for females but those set for male soldiers. Each individual whether they Are male or female May do better than their same sex counterpart. In one particular incident a female was five years senior to another male in her unit. She outscored him on the it test by 50 Points. Rossis living in a chauvinistic world if he believes that women do not possess the strength and endurance of both men and women have to generalize and say that All women Are the weaker sex is ignorant. Spec. Casondra Brewster Heidelberg Germany germans in pm my husband and i were shopping at the army and air Force Exchange serv ice at Leighton Barracks in Wurzburg when a Soldier came in with three Ger Man women. None of them were id cardholders. I was in the store Long enough to see these women trying on Dif Ferent pairs of jeans and the Soldier Pur chasing at least three pairs each. I asked the cashier if that was Legal. Her answer was it s Legal As Long As there is one i cardholder if to not mistaken Only id cardholders Are allowed in the Exchange. Additionally it is against German Law for local nationals to be in a tax customs free store "_.-. I feel that it is not fair for the germans without an id card to come into cafes facilities with a Soldier and have him buy thing at a cheaper Price. Cafes is exactly that it is Only to be used by military members and their dependents. I realize that there Are times when cafes is Short of staff but an id card checker is much needed at the door rather than at the Register. This will Cut Down on unauthorized purchases and will make shopping better for the military member Sana their dependents. Rhonda Myree Gie Belstadt Germany healthy Competition it s fortunate that army col. Charlesc Ross of Columbus n.c., who was quoted in the nov. 2 article bed Basic training Competition is retired. Attitudes such As his have no place in today s army. During my Basic training Competition Between male and female companies produced great morale boosts and spurred soldiers to push themselves to reach new Heights in physical training Basic Rifle marksmanship or Soldier skills. I remember fondly the Day our company picked our top it scorer to be pitted against the neighbouring male company s top it scorer in a one handed push up Duel. The female Soldier won one hand Down. Given that i find it hard to believe that a coed company would do any less. If any thing the soldiers would perform and Fin ish better As compared with your insistence that coed training would Only produce diminished standards and results. I was pleased to see coed training Kheiri main facts in response to just catching up oct. 27i would like to Clear up a few Points made concerning Rhein main a. We try to keep everyone informed about the changes at Rhein main but based on this letter not everyone has the full Story. First of All Rhein main is not closing it is Only drawing Down. Over 1,100 people will continue to work Here after we Complete this draw Down. Sec nov the picnic area being constructed in the Center of the base is actually a youth baseball Field Complex. The Frank Furt Airport authority is building this Forus in Exchange for a Small parcel of land where our current Fields Are new Fields will be used by our youth program which will continue to be a very dynamic activity hopefully this helps to bring everyone up to Date. I Hope this explains that we Are con stantly looking after the interests of Theair Force and the department of de sense budget As Well As the welfare four people. \ . Edward jr., commander Rhein main a t Germany teen clinic response i attended an Ope forum at Baumholzer High school on the isue of opening a teen clinic at the school. The purpose was to answer any questions or concerns about the clinic. Questions were answered an concerns aired but it seems the biggest con Cern a teen clinic opening at the school was a decision made based on one Man s opinion and not based on opinions and concerns of the majority of parents present that night. It was a decision based on the desire to eliminate a consequence "10 pregnancies at the High school instead of eight and not address the problem be Havior. My main concern is that the principal took it upon himself to make a decision that clearly involved parental input namely support or disapproval these Ardour children going to this school. It was ironic to note that following the forum there was a pts Parent teacher student organization meeting in the school. This is an organization that does All it can to encourage parental support and participation in the lives our children at school. It seems the support is sup posed to be limited to Only certain aspects of our students lives and not the whole life of the student. When we men Tion whole life we Are accused of trying to control our children s lives and setting our selves above them. All this time i thought i was acting As a guide and supporter of the integrity of their physical and Spiri Tual Well being which cannot succeed without the greatest amount of love that is not Only honest truthful and firm but understanding tender and forgiving. I feel this decision should be negated then a proper forum held where our questions and concerns can truly be addressed and then a decision brought for Ward from that process. This forum was a joke and a slap in the face. Kathleen a. Brenna Nidar Oberstein Germany Smith tragedies the situation regarding Susan Smith and her two children is simply incomprehensible. In my mind there Are two trag Edies involved. The first and most obvious is the senseless death these two innocent children were subjected to at the hands of their Mother. The second tragedy is that our Legal system is now forced into taking this Case to court a which time some Slick defense attorney will attempt to prove Smith not guilty foursome absurd reason such As insanity. Too bad Robert Shapiro s services Are already retained for o j. Simpson. He would have a great time with Smith s de .-., a " nothing makes the Case for capital punishment More strongly than Susan Smith s admitted murder of her two sons. Regardless of whatever feeble excuse her and her attorney Trot out during the up coming trial her premeditated callous and unspeakable actions should quickly forfeit her right to live. Period. Max l. Shadic Heidelberg Germany Christian music uplifting i just want to say i could t agree More with music for the soul oct. 22. There is such a wide variety of Christian music out there that is appealing to Var ious tastes such As contemporary mid dle of the Road and gospel. I would hot have come to know this though if i had t voluntarily worked at a local Christian radio station near the base where i was previously stationed in the United states. This kind of music is uplifting and encouraging. It gives Hope to a sometimes hopeless world. Along with the army and air Force Exchange service it would Benice to Sec it in civilian areas As Well Stac sgt or.
