The prisoners also find out their minimum release dates which Are not connected to parole. Depending on the length of the sentence five to 10 Good time Days for each month of a sentence Are deducted from the total. For instance someone with a three year sentence starting with the first Day of pretrial confinement will be credited six Days for each of the 36 months. Assuming no Good time is lost for misconduct which inmates say rarely happens the prisoner will be released 216 Days Early. Parole is another  the time inmates serve a third of the sen tence they Are Given a parole hearing and based on conduct participation in counselling Job performance and the likelihood of having a Job and solid place to live on the outside it May or May not be granted. Some prisoners Don twant to Deal with the fed eral parole system so the choose to waive a parole hearing and just do their time until they have reached their minimum  while waiting for that magic Day inmates live a very routine existence. First Call is 5 a.m., and lock Down is 10 30 . Except for those on death Row in maximum Security or in disciplinary segregation which inmates Call the Hole weekdays Are spent on work details. Evenings Are spent in recreational sports at the Library in academic classes or watching television. Weekends Are spent much like the evenings. Most inmates live in the Castle a 100-year-old, domed building with eight tie Sand six wings. Six of the tiers Are above ground and two Are below. Inmates living below ground Are women offi cers maximum custody those in administrative segregation and those on death Row. The six above ground Levels House medium and some minimum Security inmates. Other minimum custody residents live in a separate building inside the Walls. Inmates who Are trustees live Ina compound outside the Walls. Their buildings Are set up much like any military Barracks and they live with fewer restrictions. Trustees often hold jobs in the outside Community. They have greater Freedom As to what posses Sions they May have As Well As other privileges. Minimum custody inmates have Day rooms in which posit and relax. If they want to watch television they plug a set of headphones into a Wall outlet located at shoulder level near one of about a half dozen televisions located in each Wing. Inmates other than those on death Row also Are Al Lowed to have their own televisions but they must choose be tween a television a stereo or a personal computer. Inmates Are under constant surveillance by closed circuit cameras. Staff members in a Central control room Monitor All screens and can lock up one or More tiers or wings if they spot something unusual.
