Young males Only once again females Are responsible for the problems in the military a Mili tary in decline nov. 17 either because we get pregnant or because we Lack the physical stamina to do the Job. I concede the writer s Point. I believe we must consider the Mission of the Mili tary and eliminate All pregnant , having children does not con tribute to military Why Stop there let s eliminate All single parents since they might not Beable to deploy As quickly As a crisis War rants As a matter of fact let s eliminate family problems entirely by enlisting on Yyoung single people. Did i say people we. Need to eliminate most women because they Don t have the physical strength or stamina necessary to carry All that equipment into combat. V v " a 77, -7 let s also forget about All those sol Diers who have permanent profiles since they cannot meet the physical require ments of our hew proposed army. Let s just have one Standard for physical fit Ness. .7/ if you can t meet the of an 18-year-old male sol Dier you need not apply. We might lose Little in experience since there May be a few higher ranking officers or senior non commissioned officers who Are no longer qualified for service but sacrifices have to be made for military preparedness. Now that we have eliminated All of the soldiers who just Don t measure up to our new standards All we have to do is enlist enough Young single males to fill All the required military positions which . -. Nor should we limit Access to preventive health care for those Young people in Reed. Our army health care providers Are not ignorant or inexperienced. In an Ideal world there would be no War but we prepare for it. There should be no Auto accidents but we have seat belts and air bags. Perhaps there should be no teen sex. Parents should not physically or sexually abuse their children but the army has had to respond to these problems. Hopefully most of our children will not need these services because they have thoughtful and attentive parents but Are All children that Lucky in response to the comments about the scope of practice and training of nurse practitioners again ignorance is , nurse practitioners and physician assistants Are All trained in of gyn counselling and preventive Medicine. The sad truth is that these health car professionals Are regularly encountering teen sexually transmitted diseases std and teen pregnancies. Their goal is to Nelp parents in preventing these tragedies. Again should we unilaterally disarm because War is immoral should we Abol nurse practitioners while emotions run High in response to the Baum older teen clinic posed to combat an increased rate of teenage pregnancies in that Community a careful review of the facts is assertion that nurse practitioners have no specialized training in gynaecology or counselling is a blatant misrepresentation of the practitioners Are registered nurses who have achieved advanced Post graduate education and have provided specialized primary health care in Ameri Ca for the last Quarter of a Century. Most educational programs for nurse practitioners Are offered at universities at a master s level or accredited teaching hospitals that offer diplomas. These Grams Are one to two years in length i addition to the four years of undergrad uate education required to receive a baccalaureate degree in nursing. The specialized requirements for this advanced clinical practice Are specialized and rigorous. In addition to completing educational requirements nurse practitioners must successfully Complete a certifying examination by a nationally recognized authority such As the american nurses association or the association of women s health obstetric and neonatal nurses. Furthermore nurse practitioners must be licensed by a state Board professional licensing authority which requires proof of extensive annual continuing Edu cation. Indeed an of gyn nurse practitioner has attained and proven professional expertise in the areas of gynaecology and patient struggle to provide appropriate educational and medical care to adolescents should hot be reduced to a War be tween parents and the educational and medical professions the epidemic of teen age pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases in our country touches the social Legal moral and economic parts of Bur entire cultural fabric. 7 77 -."".77 7 to identify education and Medicine Ashe enemy in this struggle is missing the target. \ " " we must adopt a collaborative approach in a search fora common ground to provide services instead of waging a War Between polarized Camps. Rinfro Baum older Germany Kaiser Slauter ignored it has been quite obvious that your newspaper has been negligent in its treat ment of the Kaiserslautern american High school football team. It is definitely evident that you have to play for certain schools in Europe to receive any recognition for Post season awards. It is also definitely evident that Kaiserslautern american High school snot one of these certain schools. It is a crying shame that these Youn athletes Are subjected to such discrimination from department of defense de Pendents schools athletic sports Gram and the stars and stripes. These individuals from Kaiserslautern who should have been selected for Post sea son honors were Ray Lampkin Jaime Androl James White and Charlie Tarver. These Young men have been put in for football scholarships to division i and i a schools. These Young athletes Are victims of the e system that is unfair to those who Donot play for Ramstein Heidelberg or Frankfurt in division football. It is apparent that Kaiserslautern High school should eliminate our football Gram and take up Field hockey. Then maybe they might stand a Chance for Post season awards.
