Education helps military in response to no pity for student . 22i too upon entering the Mili tary was enticed by the Benefit of reduced educational costs. While you May feel that any complaints in regard to Benefit reduction Are without Merit i dare you to flip the order to Advance your military Ca reer and exceed expectations you must continue your education. In just eight years time allowed to obtain status you have to squeeze in those necessary semester hours to have any Hope for motion. V " " ". V perhaps your mos military occupational specially is one where Mere brawn is enough to ensure advancement but for those jobs where a higher in is required you could be in a serious bind. Even if the military paid100 percent of All educational costs payment enough would be found in the acquired knowl Edge put to use by the Soldier. I strongly applaud any and All individuals who can find the time shake classes and think it is wrong to hold them Back. Somehow some Way funds should be made available. It s called investment. In order to have a Strong Force we have to find a Way to fix this problem of educational funding. Valuable soldiers should t have to become civilians to move Forward in life. Michelle merchant Hanau Germany what my commander cannot fix the problem either. And there Are always the questions and comments if you can t control your kids Why do you expect someone else to control them or there s no room in the Arney for soldiers who cannot control their Well when the child is As big As you Are we can t exactly spank them or give them time if we Lay a hand on them Well find ourselves in the nearest fact family advocacy Case management team hearing. I guess my message today is to lend support to All the parents who Are experiencing similar problems with their Chil Dren. Let it be known upon my return to the states in six months i shall Call my local truancy officer or juvenile probation officer and ask for the assistance that states provide and that should be incorporated into Federal jurisdiction for those of us stationed outside of the Continental United states. V master sgt. Dennis d. Crisp Wiesbaden a Germany parents need help i m writing to you to vent my frustrations with the Lack of services available to assist parents with difficult children. Since our arrival Here in Germany we have encountered Many problems with our teen age children including truancy running away failure to obey parents Etc .1, .v."," i was younger and my children were in Grade school i used to think that it was the parents fault when children misbehaved. That was a misperception on my part. When children become teens the rules change. The psychiatrists and social workers of the world have deemed that children have All the rights these Days and thee Arents have none. This is especially True Ere in Germany where there is no Juve Nile Justice system which would ordinarily be run by the state. Children Here in Germany know that they can do As they please with basically no extreme consequences. Our civilian misconduct authority recently explained to me that we have one of the Best systems in the world for handling these types of problems. If he Means sending problem children Home to family and friends just to get then rout of the Community then Correct. Mean while we cause undue hardship on families and the state run facilities. _ there arc some instructional programs that help parents Deal with these types of problems. However most of them teach that we must let Bur children know that there arc consequences to their behaviour. Of. But who really suffers the consequences i m Here to Tell you my kid can live without his allowance to computer school Etc. I on the other hand cannot live with the Community sending letters to me through my commander. Guess Pearl Harbor Day did i miss an edition of the stars and stripes december 7 has come and gone and nary a word of reminder As to what happened at Pearl Harbor in 1941. Why should we be reminded an employee at the army and air Force Exchange serv ice bookmark in up Jelweh stated he thought Pearl Harbor Day was december 6, not the 7th, referencing the japanese sneak attack on the United states. If an adult does t remember How can we expect the youth of our country to know of it or do we wish to forget it Ever occurred i Don t. V ".-.-., i we Are constantly reminded of the hostilities of Europe lest a forget. May god help us should we eve forget the events of world War ii. The Lack of a re minder of the attack of Pearl Harbor is a very Good beginning to sweep the Inci Dent under the carpet. Ignore it and it never happened As Many today would have us believe the holocaust never of curved. ,. The Media s claim to responsible journalism apparently does not have a two edged sword. Gaittins Lee Mccullochh Kaiserslautern a Germany i did t even write the Man a ticket and people wonder Why Many maps can t wait to go to the Field again All in the same Day a woman yelled to me from the local Post Bank stating that she worked in the Bank so she should t get a parking ticket. Is this ludicrous or what i could see if she was transporting Money or something but Are these Park ing areas not intended for patrons convenience ". -. A i did have one woman approach me arid say thank you for writing parking tickets. She caught me by Surprise since most people rarely Sec the importance or convenience that these tickets convey As a staff sergeant once pointed out to me All the parking violators have taken the same Driver s test and have been schooled in the Usa eur German Road signs. Would these same patrons question a ticket on the German econ omy where the signs arc exactly the same. a a. ". All in All things can get mighty absurd while working duty but for the most part we try Pur Best to be fair and occasionally we do make honest mistakes. 1 really do feel though that most people understand that we Are just doing our Job and trying to keep the peace. Cpl. Michael j. Not tar graft Wohr Germany maps doing their jobs with All the negative publicity about military police lately this letter is in tended to show How preposterous things can get while working Road duty. While doing the arduous task of writ ing parking tickets i was approached by a Soldier who bluntly asked Why i had. Written him a parking ticket for parking in a Blue parking meter area. It seems he had just exited his car and i did t say a word to him. Within the next hour i approached a senior no to notify him to use a Blue parking meter. He stated that the maps should notify everyone before we Start ticketing by publishing it in the paper since he had never seen anyone ticketed for this before i explained that other maps do ticket for this and also that this is Why the sign right in front of him was posted. When we Aren t ticketing then we Are usually on a More important Case like a traffic Accident. Business As usual a Soldier who was chartered out of the army a few months ago dishonourable discharge was seen _ in a Post Exchange cashing checks and buying merchandise using a _ .
