Weiskopf like Irwin a qualifier Only last week had a Birdie Birdie finish to gel his share of the top spot while the Chunky Floyd followed a critical putt on the eighth with a string of three consecutive birdies. Royals take 2, Widen Lead in West by United press International Paul Splittorff pitched 7 2-3 innings of no hit Ball then settled for a one hitter Friday night to pitch the Kansas City royals to a 3-0 Victory and a sweep of their doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers. The victories opened a four game Lead for the royals in the Al West. Hal Mcrae ripped a pair of run scoring doubles and Al Cowens added an rib single to lift the royals to a 3-1 first game Victory behind the combined four hit pitch ing of Andy Hassler and Doug Bird. Splittorff was bidding for the third no hitter in the major leagues this season before Pinch hitter Charlie Moore lined a single to left with two out in the eighth. The left hander struck out nine and walked hits struck out six and walked two in going the distance for his Lith Victory against 10 losses. Indians 3, Angels 1 Andre Thornton hit his 27th Homer and relievers Pat Dobson and Jim Kern stopped a seventh inning threat As the indians topped the Angels. Yankees 4, twins 0 Lou Piniella and Roy White hit Solo Home runs and Ron Guidry pitched a six hitter to lift the Yankees Over the twins for their fifth straight Victory. Orioles 6, White sox 5 Lee May hit his 21st Homer after a walk to Ken Singleton to open the eighth inning to give reliever Dick Drago the Victory Over the White sox. Rangers 6, red sox 4 Jim Sundberg drove in two runs with a sacrifice Fly and a bunt single to Lead the rangers Over the red sox. Bert Blyleven upped his record to 13-11. Boston fell games behind new York in the East. Watson who won those two match  and is trying to protect his Money winning Lead from the challenging Nicklaus could do no better than a 72, two Over Par and five off the Pace. . Open Champion Hubert Green had the same score. The Start of the Day s play was held up for 35 minutes by a pounding rainstorm that left the Long Tough course drenched. Women s open Champion Hollis Stacy shot a course and personal record 7-under-Par 65 Friday for a 36-Hole total of 133 11 under Par to Lead by five strokes at midpoint of the $100,000 muscular dystrophy Golf tournament. Joann Prentice shot a 69 in each of the first two rounds and her 138 total was Good for undisputed second place. Stacy who was tied for first after the first round broke the course record of 67, set last year by Joanne Garner. Stacy s own previous Best round was 67, on a Par 73 course in san Diego Calif. Stacy said she was confident she could maintain her Lead for the final 36 holes. I might be hard to catch. I m a pretty Good front runner. I like to be out front she said. The 23-year-old Savannah ga., pro had six birdies and no bogeys on the Friday round and narrowly missed a 20-foot Birdie putt on the last Hole.
