The Post quoted sources As saying Lance was enraged when told he had exceeded his loan authority at the National Bank of Georgia. The Post said he called a meeting of the directors of the Bank and had them raise his personal lending authorization to the Bank s full Legal limit per loan which was $1.7 million. Sixty per cent of the Bank s Stock at that time was owned by financial general corp., a Washington based Bank holding company the Post said and it challenged the Loans. William j. Schuiling who was chief executive officer of financial general in Early 1975, told the Post he also was greatly disturbed that the Atlanta Bank under Lance had taken Over the first National Bank of Tucker a Small Bank near Atlanta that had failed. Financial general was ready to Tell Lance to Stop flouting its rules or leave Schuiling said when Lance and his associates suddenly bought out financial Gener Al s interest in neg. Lance is not a prudent banker and he should not be judged As such in comparison with other Bankers the Post quoted Schuiling As saying. Lance also Drew fire from the american Bankers association Friday. The association said that Lance s history of overdrawn checking accounts cannot be considered Normal banking practice and expressed fear that the controversy would damage the image of Bankers. Regrettably Lance and his defenders have sought to describe his reported practices failure to disclose outside personal borrowings and the use of substantial Over drafts As Normal banking practices the Aba said.
