In Cleveland a judge gave school officials an extra Day to prepare for a court ordered negotiating Marathon aimed at ending a school strike that has idled 101,000 students for three weeks. Cuya hoga county common pleas court judge Harry Hanna ordered around the clock negotiations to end the City s strike largest in a series of walkouts that cur failed the schooling of More than 250,000 students in a dozen states. But Hanna who has said he hoped the strike could be settled in two Days postponed the opening of the talks for one Day to give school Board officials More time to revamp the budget and find Money to fundraiser for the strikers. Earlier Hanna ordered negotiators for both sides to report to his courtroom and bring your the judge said negotiations had entered a critical stage and ordered All participants in the talks to refrain from talking about the Case for at least the next two Hanna has resisted school Board re quests for a Back to work order and in Stead told school officials to reshuffle the budget and find Money needed to Grant raises to striking teachers and non teach ing personnel. The school Board slated a budget session thursday night and indicated the spending revisions would involve layoffs for hundreds of school employees.
