It was the third open division title for the Tupper Lake n.v., native who won the the nordic combined the 2.6-Kilomc ice sprint sunday and also anchored Vii corps relay team to Victory. But Sapp is just one of four Vii corps skiers who will take Home three Gold med als from this two Day meet. Also winning their third golds monday were Garmisch s Brian Skinner in the men s senior division12-Kilometer race Gil Dodson of Augsburg in the masters 8-Kilometcr event and Andrea frenetic of Nuernberg in the women s open 8-Kilometer run. Those three joined Sapp on Vii corps victorious 10.6-Kilometcr relay Effort. All tour Vii corps winners also Cap tured nordic combined honors in their respective divisions As Well. Carol Rudesill of v corps won Mon Day s race for women s seniors. She also captured sunday s race and the nordic combined in her division. Sapp s nearest rival was Tim Fisk a Alpine Ace from Hanau who continued his astounding Progress in Cross country ski ing by picking up an open division second place. Fisk who was third in sunday sprint was timed in 49 58.41. Third place in the open race went to John Harrison the Best of 14 setae entrants. Harrison clocked 51 46.53. Vii corps John Saulcy placed fourth followed by Setas John Rondeau. The next five places were taken by Seta skiers from Vincnza who have been train ing in Berchtesgaden for a biathlon next weekend. Monday s races were delayed for Over a i hours to allow for preparation of the course after a heavy snowfall had dumped knee depth Snow on the area. A Snow cat was finally called in to prepare the track. The races were shortened because of Snow problems with the men s open and seniors racing 12 Kilometres instead of 15 and the women and masters Sling 8 kilo meters instead of 10.but Sapp looked like he could have skied the original 15 Kilometres and maybe 10 More when he finished with no visible sweat or heavy breathing. It was Tough skiing he said. The soft Snow made it hard to get Power. Evenly poles were slipping. One of the Hills was like mashed potatoes Sapp skied in top flight College Competition at St. Lawrence and he keeps Lap times on himself. He looked at his watch when he came by the finish line after each of three loops of the 4-Kilomctcr course. He liked what the watch told him. Jansen became the first skater Ever to race faster than 37.00 seconds at this a Rui Zawa rink. On saturday Jansen placed third in the 500 meters and second in the 1,000 meters. The men s last event of 1,000 meters was to be held later sunday with skaters with the lowest Points winning the championships. Earlier on sunday Karin Kania East Germany s superstar won her third Triumph and virtually wrapped up the women s title of the championships. Kania 24, who recently returned to Speed skating after a year off to have Achild finished in 40.00 seconds in winning the women s 500-meter race followed by Bonnie Blair of the United states in 40.08 seconds. She led in the Point standings of the championships after the 500 meters with 119.360 Points followed by East Ger Many s Christa Rothenburger with 120.970. Bonnie Blair of the United states placed third with 122.595. A Field of 62 skaters from Australia Austria Canada Taipei West Germany Finland France East Germany Japan the Netherlands Norway Poland South Korea Sweden the soviet Union and the United slates Are competing in the two Day championships. We Bruecken claims wisc Crown Worms Germany the Zweibruck in team of Jinnie Brown june Richardson Jan Gloria and Carol Schaben won the showdown Battle with Heidelberg sunday to capture the european wisc travelling league championship. We Bruecken took 10 of a possible 12 match Points from Heidelberg to decide the eight team Competition in the final round. The we Bruecken team earned $400 for the Victory on the basis of 64 Points one More than Heidelberg. Heidelberg which took second place Money of $200, was comprised of Stephanie Brown Olga Ginter Diana Monroe and Grace Kishaba. The quartet averaged 163,169, 175 and 177 respectively. Each Bowler rolled eight games in Bead to head Competition. Jinnie Brown topped the we Bruecken Effort with an eight game average of 192. Schaben followed with 180, Richardson with 170 and Gloria with 163. Ramstein with 59 Points finished third and earned $140. Bamberg followed with 54 Points and $100. Wiesbaden finished if tit followed by Stuttgart Gold Giessen and Stuttgart White. There were no Money prizes Tor the final four teams Wiesbaden shot 828, the top individual game of the one Day Competition. Ace Gai Fey 199terry Taylor 197joyce Rich Ardson 181and Bev Brouillette 251 comprised the top game Effort. Jenny Brown rolled the most 200-plus games of the Competition with scores of 226, 200, 222, 223. Brouillette with a 251 and a 201 and Joyce Richardson with 225 and 206 were the others. His times were impressive enough to win him an alternate spot and he was added to the Usa eur team to replace a dropout and he won two races for his team m that  s race concluded the nordic portion of the championships.
