Take time to appreciate the Charm of the outlanders and the restful atmosphere of this danish Peninsula. If you Cross the danish German Border far West at Rumbol you nearly stumble into tender a fairy tale town which was known for centuries As Alac makers town. The Border runs Down the main Street. From there go northward through the Marsh country where storks nest to Ribe Denmark s oldest town. There you meet the Middle Ages. In the evening the watchman still goes through the streets crying the hours. On arrival at Esbjerg Denmark s Busy Western fishing port you find that you Are a Bare Quarter of an hour by ferry from the Island of Fano at the Southern end of Jutland s bathing beaches that stretch As far North As Skagen. Northwards the route runs through undulating country Small towns and Large. Varde Ringkob ing and Holstebroe tempt you to stay a while for none is More than a few Miles from the sea. If swimming is not what you want there is fishing in the Rivers that wind through the Countryside. Inland to the East you pass through a District that was grim heaths a Century ago but that has been turned into productive farmlands. Between Herning Viborg and Skive some of those original heaths remain As National Trust areas. Also in this area at Lillund is Lego land Home of the world famous toy building bricks. Farther on is the Lim fjord which cuts through Jutland East to West in wide stretches of Inland Waters. The Vikings used to Start their raiding voyages from the Lim fjord and Many remains of those times can be found along the shores. Among the islands is mors where the Lim fjord oysters grow. The northernmost part of Jutland is Miles of Sand dunes abounding in Sun traps for Sun bathers. There is a wide Sandy Beach so firm that cars can use it As a Road from blokus to Lokken. From Frederiks Havn and Hirts Hals ferries leave for Sweden and Norway. At the Eastern end of the Lim fjord lies Alborg with its distilleries of Denmark s National drink a Davit. Alborg is also Home of the chess and 7 s Rugby tournaments for nato forces. In this part of Jutland the landscape takes on a new face. The Hills and ridges Are higher than elsewhere. Rold Forest stretches for Miles and the Heather Clad rebuild Hills with a log Cabin built by danish americans is the scene of american Independence Day celebrations every year. Southward along the coast quaint old Market towns come like pearls on a string Hobro Mari anger and ancient randers where 13 roads meet. Ebeltoft has a tiny town Hall straight out of a fairy tale. Denmark s second largest City Arhus is a modern commercial Center but holds on to its Den game old Tow with an open air museum of historic danish houses. A few Miles to the West is the Lake District around silk Eborg by and Skander Borg. To the South Are christians eld Haderslev and Aberra which were part of Germany from 1864 to 1920. Battlefields and War memorials Are plentiful Here. Nearby is the White Castle of Rasten now a summer residence of Denmark s dowager Queen.
