Cologne ring fest the West German City of Cologne is celebrating the completion of its ring beautification project with a festival to beat All fests on sept. 18 and 19. Between Rudol Platz and Han Saring eight stages will offer two Days of entertainment each stage with its own theme. Rudol Platz stage for example will offer a Dallas barbeque Complete with country music Gold miners cowboys and Bull Riding. Seh safest Wurst Markt take september spotlight two of the Best known festivals in West Germany take place in next month Seesen s historic Seh safest on sept. 3 and 4, and bad Durkheim s Wurst Markt sept. 9-13 and 16-19. The Seh safest celebrates the history of the 1,000 year old City of Seesen Harz. Serusa the original name of Seesen was founded under the reign of emperor Otto ii in the year 974. He donated the property which consisted of 2,400 acres and 20 serf families to the Marien monastery in Landersheim so that the sins of the people would be  also in Exchange the monastery would Bear the Seal of the emperor and he and his Chancellor would be the approving authorities in the selection of the archbishop of Mainz. The festival opens on the evening of sept. 3 with a Parade of heralds dressed in red and White the town s colors. Later performers will stage an open air medieval drama the Saga Ossil berhohm the Story of the Maiden Jutta von Peel who dismayed at living with a band of local robber Barons and other unsavoury characters prayed for her release. One Stormy night the Earth opened up and swallowed their Castle and everyone inside. Since then Jutta has been the guardian spirit of the sick and poor and it is said haunts the Silber Hohl. The fest continues sept. 4 with music and dance a Bear capture and a midday meal Over an open fire. The main event the Parade starts at 2 30 . Every epoch of Seesen history is represented in the Parade. The City heralds will head the Parade followed by emperor Otto ii of 974, his Chancellor Willigis and court. Lonely Jutta robber Barons and the Hunters from Seesen with their captured Bear will precede Duke Otto the one eyed who granted Seesen its charter in 1428, and Otto s Consort Agnes his court and medieval knights in Armor. Bringing up the rear will be rat catchers jesters travelling entertainers with dancing bears ladies in Flower Laden coaches and Farmers with Harvest wagons. The Parade ends at a medieval marketplace with craftsmen traders and food and beverages. On the Hunting Castle grounds the fest continues with a Knight s tournament Renaissance dances and officers of the prussian guards Riding in a quadrille. The festival ends at 9 ., when the night .3im . 1siia- i Ali a i  or shh watchman wanders through the City to sing the time. Visitors to the festival will receive a memento of the occasion a colourful history of Seesen. The bad Durkheim Wurst Markt also has religious origins. Pilgrims travelled to bad Durkheim every year on St. Michael s Day to pay repentance Money Tor sins committed. As travellers were hungry and thirsty after the Long trip villagers put a wine cask a pan to Cook sausages and a Basket with bread into a wheelbarrow pushed it up to the top of St. Michael s Hill to the sausage Market and prepared to serve refreshments As the pilgrims arrived. After More than 500 years 36 Booths preserve the traditions of the original Wurst Markt serving wines to fest visitors in Schoppen or half liter glasses. During the festival visitors drink about 400,000 Schoppen. Not to be outdone by the purveyors of wine some 40 sausage and Chicken stands Otter meat dishes. There will be plenty of other activities at the Wurst Markt including dance bands and an amusement Park with rides games and a 40 Yard High Ferris wheel.
