Both Lincoln and Kennedy were concerned with civil rights. Lincoln was elected president in 1860 Kennedy in1960. Both were slain on a Friday and in the presence of their wires. Both were shot from behind and in the head. Their successors both named Johnson were South Ern democrats and both were in the Senate. Andrew Johnson was born in 1808 and Lyndon b. Johnson was born in 1908.John Wilkes Booth was born in 1839 and Lee Harvey Oswald was born in 1939.Booth and Oswald were southerners who a cored in popular ideas. Both presidents wives lost children through death while in the White House. Lincoln s Secretary whose name was Kennedy advised him not to go to the theater. Kennedy s Secretary whose name was Lincoln advised him not to go to Dallas. John Wilkes Booth shot Lincoln in a theater and Ranto a warehouse. Is German students discuss army Post tour we Are 23 German students attending the 10th and11th grades at the gymnasium in binding in. From 2 to 5 july we participated in a special work project called project we wanted to learn More about the Way of life of our american neighbors. In cooperation with the binding in Community com Mander col. Graves and the Public affairs office of Armstrong Barracks our teachers Andrea Hillrich Sand Brita Pepper arranged a guided tour around the Post on 3 july. It. Sload and staff sgt. Rainey both of Btry 3/5 Ada 3ad were our guides. They showed us the new consolidated dining facility the Barbershop the Bookstore and the health an dental clinics. Then they took us to a Btry s troop billets. There we were allowed to Sec the Day room game room commander s and first sergeant s offices a to Conan and a four Man room of our Choice and the latrine. Our tour went on to the child development cent Erand the education Center. We were invited to the head Start class where the participants were Able to tryout their newly gained knowledge of the German Lan Guage. After this we took a break at the Burger bar foursome food and refreshments. Our next Stop was a Btry s track Park. We were shown my 13 pcs stinger trainers Vulcan cannons and hmm was and How they Are operated. The heliport was next on the Agenda. We were take there in hmm was. When we arrived our guides took us inside a Hanger. We were Able to get a close up look at the uh Iroquois and the oh-58 Kiowa helicopters. Our guide told us a Little bit of what weapons the could carry and some other specifications. From there we walked Over to the flight line where the american Shad their 4th of july carnival set up. We All went inside the fest tent and got a Chance to ask the troops who had driven us Down there previously prepared questions. Their ranks ranged from private to sergeant. Our guides were included in the conversation. Some of our questions were Why did you join the army would you make the same Choice again would you rather be stationed in the Usa do you feel homesick will you perhaps stay in Germany after your Mili tary service do most soldiers have american or German girl friends what do you think of the prohibition for sol Diers to go out with girls under 18? do american families let their daughters go. But after we saw How Welcome we were made to feel the initial shyness disappeared. The whole project was very interesting and learning about our neighbors was a lot of fun. We had a rare Chance to communicate with american soldiers and to learn from them personally How they Felt about being stationed in Germany. If More germans could take the time to interact with their american friends a lot of trouble and mis understandings could probably be avoided.
