Emergency leave a joke i likes policy change in a writing this letter in Hopes that no other service member will go through the horrible ordeal i experienced trying to get to Detroit mich., before my Mother died. First the. Red Cross did not promptly relay the message. A Friend of mine called and told me id better Call the red Cross because he had seen a message on the desk with my name on it. About 8 30 a.m., sept. 14 i called the red Cross. They kept me on hold about 20 minutes and never came Back on the line. I thought they could not have a message for me or surety they would be Able to find it. I went Back to work. About 10 30, two captains came to Tell me that i had a message from the red Cross. By now it was too late for me to pack and get manifested for the daily flight to Dhahran i had to spend All night in King Khalid military City. 1 drove to the Airport and Sut myself on the Manifest for the 12 . Ight on sept. 15. Not once did the clerk mention that the flight May arrive and leave earlier than scheduled. I arrived at the Airport at 11 20. The clerk told me that the flight had left Between 9 and 9 30 a.m., three hours ahead of schedule. No one was notified of the change. As a last resort they scheduled me on the medevac flight that left at 2 ., and 1 finally arrived in Dhahran around 4 . 1 was then told that the earliest flight to the states was at 6 30 the next Day and flights were Only on monday wednesday and Friday. There was nothing 1 could do about that so i went ahead and manifested myself for the next Days flight or so i thought. Monday night just before the flight was supposed to take off the clerk  find my name on the Manifest. They ran me around for 45 minutes before finally putting my name on the Manifest. Once in a a single Soldier living in the Barracks. With my military occupational specially i live in a coed Barracks. To say allowing women in the Barracks would cause cases of adultery and rape is totally absurd. Think about it How much alcohol Are you allowed to have in your Home As much As you want right Well for the single Soldier in Usa eur the Barracks Are our Homes. Consuming alcohol or sneaking it into the Barracks was a Challenge not to get caught. Now that you can Nave an unlimited amount in your room the Challenge is Over. Sure there will be problems at first but soon it will die Down and soldiers will become More responsible because they  want to lose their privileges. What i m trying to say is we single soldiers Don t want to get married and move off Post just to get the same privileges As a married Soldier. Whether married or single we Are All adults.
