The economic Cycle is the name Given to the inter reaction Between consumer investor and producer and emphasizes the importance of the consumer in an economic system. The consumer is necessary in the Cycle. It makes no sense to continue producing cars if nobody buys them. Currently the Middle class in America does not have the Money to Purchase automobiles houses and other consumer goods. Without consumer Money As a source of investment producers have been laying off employees which in turn takes More Consumers out of the Economy. The imbalance in the economic Cycle is More noticeable now because of the tremendous amount of Money going toward investment. Stock prices Are setting records almost every month and the value of All stocks sold on the leading exchanges has tripled in the last 10 years. Office buildings continue to be constructed even though the occupancy rate for such construction is Only around 50 percent. The imbalance in the Economy has been caused by a shift in the tax Structure that has increased taxes on the Middle class taking Money out of the hands of those who Are More Likely to consume and putting it into the hands of the wealthy or those who Are More Likely to invest. If some of the billions of dollars that have gone into the speculative value of stocks had been taxed away from the wealthy instead of being taxed away from the consumer we would not have the current economic slowdown. This Phenomena should be especially insulting to the Middle class now that our president has asked the japanese to fill the role of consumer in the american economic Cycle. A Richard r.
