In a matter of moments the prom goers have traded their $75-a-night tuxedos and $200 dresses for bathing suits. For the first time this evening Young men do not hesitate to leave their dates sides and Young ladies show no remorse about the destruction of their $30 hairdos. It is a transformation of sorts a living illustration of the quandary of the late teen years when Young people experience life As both children and adults. For nearly three hours the students enjoy this offbeat prom entertainment. But outside the swimming area the chaperones Are dropping like files. Where there were perhaps 30 adults when the evening began less than 10 remain when the students return to the ballroom for the comedy act. As they file in and seat themselves before the stage the toll of prom night is evident on their faces. The comic Paul Zerdin notes aloud that this is going to be a Tough crowd. It proves to be far tougher than he imagined. There Are 15 sleeping bodies on the floor before Zerdin begins. Halfway through his routine the count is nearing 40, and Zerdin realizes he cannot compete with the exhaustion that grips his audience. Mercifully he ends the act Early prompting those still awake to clap with gratitude. A half hour later the buses pull into the Laken Heath school parking lot. Waiting for the students in the pre Dawn Light is a Small crowd of parents who appear As weary As their children. A so How was your first ail Nighter a a Mother asks her son As he Steps from the bus.
