Again we were roped together to of us with one guide three with another. The limb up the icy slope was t that difficult hut it frightened a woman in the group who decided in was not her idea of us. Her concerned husband agreed to head Back Down with her. We stopped while they were untied then moved on. At the end of the Snow we came to a mini Mountain of boulders big boulders. We d been climbing for four hours and i was getting harder not easier. Breathing was becoming a chore. At the top of the huge Rock pile we stopped for a Mut h needed rest drink of water Sandwich. Maturi suggested we turn Back. We had at least another three hours to go he said. We d probably never make in so Why not turn Back he tried to tempt us. Lust think we can make it Back to the hotel in time for a delicious lunch and then enjoy a relaxing afternoon in wait ii minute. I d hiked this far endured pain fear fatigue. I could have Spaghetti and Steak any Day. I was going to make it to the top of that Mountain. Jhio agreed. He another determined hiker and i continued leaving Maturi and Mountain guide Aldo behind. The other hiker however quickly fizzled out. We were Back on Snow and ice but this time the slope was much steeper. He kept slipping backward. He was out of breath. We stopped while Fie reconsidered. There was still time to catch up with Aldo and Maturi for the hike Home. He asked that to take a few pictures of him then turned Hack. That left Fabio and me. Perhaps became of experience on the ski slopes i did t mind the Snow and ice. But when we got Back on More rocks i started to weaken. I needed to Stop for air about every five minutes. We came to a difficult Section a Wall to climb Down minus a ladder. I was too tired for thrills. Non e difficile Fabio kept insisting. He never said much but when he spoke he was Adamant. I could t Chicken out now. He wrapped the rope around an enormous Rock then switched to English. Go go he urged. Down i went carefully in Ching one foot then one hand always searching for that Niche that would keep me attached to the Mountain. Fortunately i found the right niches and did t end up dangling above nowhere from a rope. The top seemed so close Hul when would we get there it was All getting to be too Muth. I told radio i d had enough. After All we almost made it. This time it was Fabio who was determined. We would take a Long rest leave our backpacks on the rocks and continue he said. I was beyond fatigue drained. I did what he said. It was t bad without the pack. And when we got there i knew he had been right. I was really on top of the world. I Felt As if every cell in my body knew it and was celebrating. I Felt silly Giddy much More than Happy and totally overwhelmed by the Panorama. Two groups of hikers who had passed us were Savouring the sensation of satisfaction taking pictures of one another digging into packs for refreshment. Some were looking at a Book the Mountain Book which is kept inside a Metal Box attached to the Large Cross which Marks the Peak. Those who make it to the top have earned the Honor of adding their name to a wrinkled Page. I signed. Now it was official. I had climbed a Mountain. In was wonderful.
