Belgium s government warned people not to drink ital Ian wine and asked importers not to sell any without test ing it. The european common Market s governing body said tuesday that Italy had temporarily halted All wine exports but the italian news Agency Ansa quoted the Agri culture ministry in Rome As saying later that no Block against exportation of italian wine has been arranged or carried  the government drafted a Bill that would provide stiffer penalties for those doctoring wine and establish closer examinations of food and drink. Parliamentary sources said they expected the Bill to pass As Early As thursday. Seven companies Are suspected of lacing wine with Methyl alcohol according to Milan state prosecutor Alber to Nobili who leads the investigation. Six Are based in the Piedmont and Emilia regions in the North and one in Manduriao in Southern Italy. Investigators say As Many As 33 companies have marketed tainted wine. Methyl alcohol can cause blindness coma and death if consumed in Large Quantity. Navy starts exercise in Atlantic Caribbean Washington a the Navy wednesday launched a major Fleet readiness exercise in the Western Atlantic and Eastern Caribbean involving 31 . Service vessels and two foreign vessels the Pentagon said. The exercise dubbed flee Tex 2-86, is part of a continuing series of Maneu vers conducted annually by the Atlan tic Fleet and will extend through april 27, the Pentagon said. The exercise is designed to improve Fleet readiness and to enhance the ability of the Battle Force to operate together the Navy said participants will train throughout the Broad spectrum of naval warfare including operations against surface ships aircraft and submarines the service said.
