But anyone who has seen Griffith s previous work particularly in the Black comedy something wild knows she has lots of Talent. The Basic Story is this despite her determination to land a Job that will put her in an executive suite less has been having career problems because she won t let the male executives slobber on her. She takes a Job As Secretary to Katharine Parker Sigourney Weaver dragon lady exec who has become As hard edged As her male counterparts. Harrison Ford is Jack Trainer a business Whiz romantically involved with Parker. The duo becomes a Trio when Parker Breaks her leg on a skiing Holiday. Tess unaware that her Boss has a thing with Trainer grabs the Opportunity to show her stuff by putting together a major Deal with him. Fascinated by Tess business acumen Trainer Falls hard for her. That leads to an explosive showdown at a company meeting. Weaver has to be commended for opting to play such an utterly loathsome character. That s a big Chance for her to take and she deserves credit for pulling it off so Well. Working girl has much to say about the sexism that women in the business world continue to face and it says it in a fresh Snappy Way. Together with the great acting the film is easily Worth three stars. Our other pick is Young guns a tale of the old West that stars some members of Hollywood s brat pack notably Emilio Estevez Charlie Sheen Lou Diamond Phillips and Kiefer Sutherland. Estevez stars As a very Young Billy the kid and the Story has him stumbling by Accident onto cattle rancher John Tunstill Terence Stampa transplanted englishman who has made a habit of taking in Young toughs and giving them a taste of culture. Enter Jack Palance playing the heavy As always. He s a cattle Baron named Murphy who wants to put Tunstill out of business. Tunstill eventually is killed by Murphy s men and the boys take off on the Lam. They soon become drunk with the Power of youth Freedom and firearms and spend the balance of the film waging guerrilla warfare on Murphy admittedly the boys do quite a bit of preening and posing which led one critic to suggest the film should have been titled Young buns but Estevez with his slightly manic Demeanour is highly infectious and it s hard not to get caught up in the fast paced Story. I be always been a sucker for gunfights anyway. Give Young guns three stars if you be seen All Clint Eastwood s Spaghetti westerns at least once and two stars if you Haven t. Stripes Magazine 23
