Although charged first in the North Carolina slayings Richmond will go on trial first in Federal court in new Jersey. He faces life imprisonment and up to $250,000 in fines if convicted North Carolina prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty and prosecutors believe a Federal conviction would bolster that Case defense lawyer John Call said. Authorities have refused to comment on a possible motive for Nadeau a slaying. Military officials have said Richmond and the victim knew each other socially and both were assigned to the same company at fort Dix but did no to work together.
