Augsburg boys 59, Glessen 53 the game Between the Augsburg apaches and Giessen Griffins was so close that it came Down to one play and Augsburg Point guard Waymond Edwards made that play to give the apaches the title. After eight second half Lead changes Augsburg trailed 53-52 when the Edwards took an inbound pass from Deco Rich and drove in for what proved to be the winning Lay up with 33 seconds left in Augsburg s 59-53 Triumph. Jacobs gave Augsburg a 50-49 Lead then Giessen s 6-1 freshman Ladel Scott scored inside to give the Lead Back to Giessen 51-50 with 4 20 remaining. With Deickman playing into the final three minutes with four fouls Giessen tried to stall to protect the Lead. Jacobs missed two free throws and Rich missed inside to let Giessen take that slim 51-50lead into the final two minutes. Rich rimmed in a 15-footer at 1 18 to put Augsburg Back on top. Giessen got the Ball Back and drained the clock until Scott Sank a Baseline jumper with 45 seconds left for a 53-52 Giessen Lead. Edwards drove in and scored with 33 seconds left 54-53 Augsburg. After Scott missed on a drive at 18, Robert Taylor grabbed the rebound and was fouled. Taylor Sank two free throws at 17 for a 56-53 Giessen Lead. Scott at tamped a 3 Pointer with seven seconds left missed Jacobs grabbed the rebound. Scott fouled Jacobs intentionally and Jacobs made two free throws with 5 seconds left to Seal the championship for the apaches.
