Maier was the first skier to die As a result of a crash since another aus Trian Gernot re installer was killed in downhill practice at Wengen Switz Erland in 1991. Maier was taken by helicopter to an emergency Hospital in nearby Merriau. She died about 2v4 hours after the crash. Her Speed at the time of the crash was just Over 60 Mph. Maier 26, was the Mother of a daughter Melanie and was pregnant when she won the super giant slalom at the 1989 world championships at Vail Colo. Maier again won the super a world title in 1991 at Saalbach Austria. She was in her 10thworld cup season.
