Cafes connection at one time i believed that the Armand air Force Exchange service was con trolled by the soviet Union. The collapse of the soviet Union however has made it Clear that i was wrong. In reality the soviet Union was controlled by cafes. Ralph Lohmann Wiesbaden Germany Rodeo is a skills in reference to rodeos abuse Ani Mals aug. 23i was wondering where the writer got her information. She obviously has no clue what the sport of Rodeo is about. Back in the old Days cowboys had to break wild horses to ride them and rope Young calves to doctor them. The sport of Rodeo was brought about to see which Cowboy was better at ranch Young calves your writer spoke of does not get thrown to the ground i Germany. The rope is tied off of the sad dle Horn with a very thin piece of kit string. When the calf is caught the rope Breaks away. I have been around Rodeo All my life and never have i seen a calf run 25 Mph. How does she think they caught these animals 20 years ago and even still today How else do you catch a calf to give i vaccines or branding the writer does not know the first thing about Rodeo. I wonder if she thinks about boycotting the restaurant businesses for Selling Steak if it s cruel to rope a calf what about eating the products this animal provides the bulls and horses Are not tormented with a leather bucking strap. It is a Cotton flank strap that is used. Once again i have never seen a Cowboy turn around while he s on the horse and pull his flank strap. This is absolutely absurd. You d never see that in Germany or the United states. Of course it s not written anywhere that animals Are abused and tormented in the name of entertainment Rodeo Isar from that. Rodeo is a skill and if the writer had any knowledge of Rodeo she would know that. I Hope parents will let their children attend the Rodeo that is being held in Friedberg Germany this weekend so they can see that Rodeo is not the horror this person portrays it to be. Rodeo is very exciting and these cowboys work very hard to make sure the animals Are treated properly. I can t believe the ignorance of som people. I would like to meet one child who has been scarred because they liked Rodeo. What negative Impact on society is this woman referring to come on get a grip on reality and Stop complaining about thing you obviously know nothing about. Rhonda a. Bullard Kirch guns Germany Cowboy Eric Simmons gets a rough ride during a Rodeo on the european circuit. A file ing horses. Just consider what happens to a horse that carries More than 50 percent of its weight on the front legs plus a ask it to constantly jump 1v4 to 2 meters. If you know anything about the foot and leg of a horse you can figure this out. I know because i shoe horses for a living when i am not on duty with the army Reserve. But As in Rodeo the rider knows the problems and he can take measures to help such As corrective shoeing an proper medical care for the horse. He wants his mount to live Long in goo health. The same goes for the Rodeo Stock contractor. He wants his Stock Tolive Long and in Good health. It costs a lot to replace Stock. Plus a Good Stock con tractor really cares about his Stock. Staff sgt. Mikel Dawson Lintrup Denmark horses Aren t Hurt in a letter dated aug. 23, it was state that even a tame horse will Buck and twist with a flank strap. This is not always so. I Rode Saddle Bronco in the unite states. In the off season we would hold Buck outs to try out new horses. There were Many horses that stood around or walked or trotted. Not every horse Killbuck. Have you Ever seen a flank strap up close and personal maybe sometime you should. They Are made so they will no Hurt or injure the Stock in any Way. If you read or know anything about the professional Rodeo cowboys association orca or its rules you know that the have addressed the calf roping situation. If you Are caught releasing your rope Upland Down you will receive a penalty or disqualification. The rope is to. Be re leased in a lower sideways manner. This will eliminate All the talk about Rodeo being Tough on Stock. It is no worse on Stock than jump Clearing path in Camps we Are 11 soldiers deployed to Goma Zaire from the 13th military police co in Vicenza Italy. For a Good portion of the Day until mid afternoon i think channels 11 and12 Are the same Channel therefore on my scoring system tvs gets 15 a Chian Nels some of the time. Most of the time when i Click through the channels from 1 to 18, there is a least one if not More Channel out of operation. I thought it was a problem with broadcasters in Europe until i started talking to neighbors with satellite sys tems. Every time i lose a tvs Channel i usually told it will be fixed by the end of the sure enough two or three weeks later i get the Channel Back. When we got tvs last fall we we retold they were adding sky movies and Disney by March 1994 to our up to eighteen i can t wait. I was going to invest in a satellite sys tem when we lost All English channels for most of the Holiday season but i believe dts promises. Now i m too Short to save Money by buying a dish. But if you Are new in Germany i be Lieve your Money would be better spent on a satellite system than 38 Marks for 36 months of we re adding this station soon or Well fix it by the end of the week or i m sorry the repairman is i must Correct myself. Last december we did t lose All the English speaking channels. If i unplugged the Cable Hook up i could still pick up an. Sgt. Steven j. Nolan Schweinfurt Germany Don t believe tvs Cable in a recent article i read that Wurzburg and Kitzinger will soon be get Ting tvs Cable. The article was very entertaining More so than anything i be seen since becoming a tvs subscriber. Watch out americans they Are after .
