By Willnon bet you did t know Bow had an i Model. The "1" is for Lemon and i am its disappointed 1991, 1 bought a new $30k Bow. I went through Pentagon car sales outlet in Germany and was told about the great warranty service Low maintenance Cost Sand Superior workmanship. I am Here to Tell you with me it was t Liere s a lesson Learned if you re think ing of buying a Bow and returning to the states. The warranty once you get tothe states is four years or 50,000 Miles. Reality is if you did t buy from a state Side owner you re a second rate citizen. The dealerships. Are few and far be tween Over an hour for usand there s no leaner car unless you bought it fro the local dealer. No worry just rent a car but ask for the weekly rate. Of yes Goodluck getting an appointment. They will cover you for four years or50,000 Miles just get past the hurdles. As for the Low maintenance and Supe rior workmanship i never expected the number of things to go wrong As the have that s where the "1" comes in. In the first three years i be experienced the following problems Windshield wiper motor defective gearshift Knob Assembly fuel gauge indicator Insp window motor Insp big Buck multiple engine coils an oxygen sensor Oil pan Gasket Check engine Light repeatedly stays on Contin Ual rough idling bad alternator and More guarding our aircraft or at the Gate con trolling who enters the installation and who does , despite the abuse the police take despite the complaining by the speeder getting a ticket and despite the fact that we just Don t like Law and order who is the first person we look for when there is trouble senior airman John Dyson Dyess fab what do you do the dealer suggests you write Bow of North America. Tell pm you got the "1" Model. If you do expect a third degree drilling from their travelling service rep who wonder what you be done to ruin their car. Bow of North America does t car what happened in Germany. It Only looks at what happened in America. The rep does t speak German and won t look at the Mountain of German repair receipt you be Given him showing him a history of problems. I did t expect this Many hassles when bought a High priced Bow. By the Way i just went out of warranty. The service rep told me not to bother to write or Call the company anymore All Calls or letters Are referred to him and his investigation isomer. End of sad Story. Lessons Learned beware of a big Price tag with lots of promises. Campbell by. Badge of courage i served the first four years of my air Force life As a Law enforcement specialist at Hickam fab Hawaii and i found the letter other Side of badge aug. 23 to be very uplifting. I used to love going to work and really enjoyed my Job. And now that i have Cross trained i realize just How much i miss it. I was quite fortunate. By the time i made senior airman i had been a Gate guard senior patrolman and a desk ser Geant so j write this letter from experience. Policemen have to have one of the worst environments to work in and yet they Are always scorned by the populace. How quickly we forget that they Are the ones who have to Deal with the drunks vomiting All Over them they Are the ones who have to Deal with criminals trying to attack them they Are the ones who have to Deal with crazed husbands or wive the speeders in the housing areas the rapists the drug users the loud noise complaints unauthorized people in restricted areas the crazed ten Ager with a gun the officers wives who think they can get away with murder they Are the ones who have to Tell a Chile ends Are dead from a drunk How quickly we forget to that his Par i Driver at that same policeman is the one who guards us while we Are sleeping. That same policeman is the one who guards our Money at the Bank. That same policeman is the one standing in the knee deep freezing Snow disrespectful teen while attending a recent showing of the latest Tom Clancy movie Clear and present danger with my two sons at the Patrick Henry Village theater in Heidel Berg i experienced a very troubling Inci Dent. /. A few minutes prior to Showtime about 10 High school age boys came in and sat in the first two rows. One Youngman sitting in the second Row was much More animated than the others obviously trying to draw attention to himself. Dur ing the playing of the National Anthem his ridiculous behaviour continued As he proceeded to Sway Back and Forth talk Day to his Friend next to him look around and gesture noticeably with his hands. I was annoyed and offended by his Boorish behaviour As were several other patrons sitting nearby. I leaned Forward and quietly told him that although he May have thought his actions were cute he needed to Snow More respect during the National Anthem. As i sat Back returned around and proceeded to Tell me that my comments did t mean much to him.,. ".-. -., i was shocked and dismayed by this Young Man s disrespect displayed both tothe United states Flag As Well As to a concerned adult who tried to inform him his actions were inappropriate. I Hope that this Young Man s Parent somehow learn of this incident and can take some sort of appropriate action to prevent such behaviour in the future. The world needs fewer Brash disrespectful offensive individuals. , Germany keep honors programs i was dismayed when i read that the department of defense dependents schools May eliminate All honors Grams in its overseas schools. This action is to be discussed at the october meeting of the advisory Council in dependents education. I realize that the draw Down has made it impossible for Dodds to offer As Many electives and programs As in pre Vious years. These honors programs however Are vital for College bound Stu dents in Dodds to remain competitive with their counterparts in stateside schools. Dodds officials state that one reason for this consideration is that there is a Strong movement to eliminate tracking of students College track vocational track Etc in . Schools. This is not to tally True. Not All school systems Are eliminating honors programs or fact there Are Many school systems that Are re evaluating their programs but not eliminating them. Also take note that Dodds is hot discussing cutting these honors programs in the Dodds stateside Section six of this comes on the heels of a re port published by the . Secretary of education about our silent basically this report states that America is failing to Challenge its Best and brightest because of this failure the . Educational system is falling behind other nations and bringing the students Dow with it. Many other countries do track their students to help them achieve their individual educational needs and goals. I also argue that this is not a valid Rea son to eliminate the honors programs be cause there has been no attempt to eliminate vocational training programs. For example Patch High school in Stuttgart has an admirable cosmetology is not discussing cutting this program but is this not also a form of tracking i believe that we need All types of programs in our curriculum because we Nave a variety of students with various needs and goals. For those who say this does not affect my child remember this May be the forerunner of the elimination of other courses and programs for students wit different educational needs. The results of this decision will haunt overseas Dodds students of the future. Donna Olson Vaihinger Germany vital Story buried i can t believe the stars and stripes has sunk to a new Low with the aug. 28 edition. Here is perhaps the most important piece of information for the . Air Force personnel regarding its future Leader and the Story is buried on Page 6.-./ " i realize this May not have been the most important Story in the world for the Day but let s recognize that stripes is paper for the military Community and the nomination of the new air Force chief of staff would seem to warrant Page 1, or at least Page 2 think someone within the layout or editor s office needs a refresher on the purpose of the paper. Chris Germany remember to vote this is an election year it is almost time to vote. This is particularly significant to the military forces because the White House has now announced that it will be sending 10,000 troops to Haiti Onan As yet unannounced Date even though it s almost time to vote. We that is to say the american Public should find this astounding coming from officials who seethed on opposition to Vietnam foreign intervention without compelling National inter est led by a president who openly admits dodging the draft and organizing anti War should be surprised but somehow Wea Renot. We should be startled that for no apparent reason related to . Domestic Security economic interests or safety four citizens abroad 10,000 . Military members will be sent to install or Shore up a foreign government led by the Well known Jean Bertrand Are not amazed by this because it comes from an administration that ?ipe/1f?olt vmihta7 a lick by announcing that .
