Do you know who called for these hearings mrs. Lance asked. Bert you know if he had anything at All to hide he would not have asked for a hearing. All of a sudden it looks As if we re on trial. And my stars we would t have asked for a aug. 18 report by comptroller of the currency John g. Heimann shows that mrs. Lance overdraw her Calhoun National Bank account All but three months from january 1972 through september 1975. The Over drafts ranged from $110,493 in november 1974 to $54 in september 1972. Mrs. Lance said she was not aware of Over drawing her account at the time. I Don t believe in having Over drafts but again this is in banking situations and there was nothing wrong with the Way it was because the funds were in the mrs. Lance said that during this time she was campaigning from Dawn to Midnight with her husband who was running for governor. And he was having to leave a lot of people tending to a lot of jobs that would pertain not Only to his own finances but to the Gover nor s Campaign As Well As family business. There Are Many costs of a Campaign and by nature we would never have put everything in one she said. We would have a fund raising account and different accounts for different situations. If one account was overdrawn there was always enough in another account. The Bank never lost Money on any of our asked if she Ever had second thoughts about using the Bank s private plane for such personal business As family vacations and taking their sons to school mrs. Lance s voice softened As Southern ladies voices so often do when they mean business. The National Bank of Georgia gave him full use of that plane in any Way and every Way she said. The biggest asset that Bank had was my husband. They gave him a carte Blanche kind of coverage for the plane. A letter has been written by the neg to say mrs. Lance would not Rule out reports that her Hus band will resign this week but she did say that it would Surprise her. I Don t think it will even be talked about until after the Senate hearings she Bert should Ever decide that he would be less effective As budget director then i think he would sit Down with the president and talk about it. But i Don t think that time will come before the Senate Labelle Lance. At work in her Georgetown Home Acks win Detroit mayor primary Detroit up mayor Coleman a. Young and Ernest c.
