The boats race first to Windward then have two reaching legs coming Back to the Start on the third leg then race to Windward to Leeward and finish up on a Windward leg. Genoa a Jib sail the sail ahead of the main Mast. Also called a Headsail. Mainsail the Large sail hoisted from the main Mast. Also the main Sheet. Spinnaker a colourful balloon like sail protruding from the Bow of the boat ahead of the Genoa. There Are Sev eral types of spinnakers including a running Spinnaker used on Leeward legs and the reaching Spinnaker used on reaching legs. Spinnakers Are not used to Windward. Tack sailing Man Euver in which a boat is turned either to Windward or Leeward by the rudder and by swinging the Mainsail and Genoa to the opposite Side of the boat. On a port tack the wind is coming Over the port left Side of the boat on a starboard tack he wind is coining Over the starboard right Side. Gybe also jibe a Man Euver Sim Ilar to a tack but done on the reaching or Leeward legs with a Spinnaker. When Dybing the Spinnaker is always to the opposite Side of the boat of the Mainsail and Genoa thus allowing the boat to catch a maximum amount of wind.
