Mullins said Deberry will land in Frankfurt May 6 and go immediately to Berlin for three Days. Deberry s next Stop will be Ramstein on May 9. The tour by the combined All services team was funded almost entirely by the players themselves according to Gallion a coast guard commander stationed in new Orleans. Only players from the coast guard had full command support and funding. The tour he said was made to demonstrate what a Strong team could be fielded by the players themselves and to use that Demon stration to get More support in the future in funding and players from the various serv ices and from the department of defense. The 30-player team accompanied by five official representing the . Army air Force Navy coast guard and marines compiled a record of two wins and four losses. Their record could just As easily have been 4-2, if they had t made silly mistakes late in games that Cost them penalties. They Are very fit and run very Well but they lacked the finesse that our players have acquired from playing together As a team said Morgan whose Royal electrical mechanical engineers he billeted the visiting team in Arborfield. Gallion said the bulk of his team had Only four Days to practice in the states be fore flying off to England. That was t enough. The team had no real Chance to play together Back in conus. It is playing together in game conditions not just practice that holds a team Gallion said. While Gallion s team had players drawn from All Over the Continental United states and Guam Only two players who joined the tour upon its arrival in England came from european commands. Military Rugby players in Germany but we could t get four players from Germany we wanted on the team released from duty said Gallion.
