Soldiers within 90 Days of re enlist ment will be told they can re enlist Only if they agree to be retrained in a Short age skill. Soldiers who Are not nearing re enlistment will be Given 90 Days to Volunteer for retraining. Canada said if enough soldiers do not Volunteer the army May have to involuntarily reclassify enough soldiers to meet readiness goals. He said the army expects to mail about 7,800 letters to soldiers in the three skills included in the fast track test. The army needs to get about 1,750 soldiers to reclassify or re enlist out of those skills he said. He said the army will provide formal training for any soldiers moving to a shortage skill. We re not going to make them go through on the Job training unless the new skill is so compatible with the old skill that formal training in t Nec Essary Canada said. He said personnel officials have expressed concern that the fast track pro Gram will cause some soldiers to leave the army rather than retrain in another skill.
