The streamlining is the first step toward curriculum standardization a department of defense dependents schools Campaign aimed at bringing uniformity to its High school classrooms around the Globe. By the time the project is finished Dodds educators envision having uniform course Cata logs and teaching guides in every subject so that students from Tokyo to Frank Furt will be studying the same material. School system director John Stremple addressed the standardization Issue at the Spring meeting of the advisory Council on dependents education promising a review of Dodds course offerings. Regional school officials since have uncovered a dizzying array of course adjectives in the project s first few months. In one Region alone 77 variations of High school English Are listed. The whole situation is compounded by schools that offer honors courses but not advanced courses said Dean Wiles chief of the Germany Region s Edu cation division. Other schools have enriched courses. The Lack of consistency Means that honors English might be very different in Patch High school in Stuttgart West Germany than it is in Balboa High school in  the Rainbow of adjectives extends to the other end of the academic spectrum where foundation Basic and fundamental color course offerings. Some schools simply offer English with no accompanying adjective. Currently principals and faculty department chiefs decide what courses will be called. Some Are produced regionally while others Are school specific. Previously classroom materials were pro cured on a regional basis. Teams of teachers from throughout the school sys tem eventually will be assigned the task of writing teaching manuals for each Grade and subject. The communique did not say whether they would continue Independent efforts to topple Nicaragua s government. Government to end its support to the nicaraguan Contra rebels who have fought their government for seven years and allow veterans to follow their own consciences and wage  the Convoy was scheduled to leave mex Ico City wednesday and to arrive in Man Agua around sunday after crossing through Guatemala and Honduras. Once in Nicara Gua the Aid will be distributed by non government humanitarian agencies. An initial Load of 30 tons of Medicine food and clothes has grown to More than 300 tons of Aid through donations Veteran Raul Vadez said. The peace Convoy was scheduled to enter Mexico june 9 but was held up by american officials at the mexican Border for More than a month until july 13. . Customs and the Treasury depart ment detained the Convoy on grounds the trucks could be used for military purposes by the nicaraguan government. The activists planned to leave the trucks in Nicara Gua for peaceful purposes. Customs authorities demanded $ 100,000 from the peace activists to ensure that the vehicles would return to the United states 30 Days after they crossed the Border. Several Days and Many delays later some of the activists were arrested and their vehicles impounded when they tried to Cross the Border
