Among the Broad gauges the new Yor Stock Exchange composite Index fell 2.30 to end the week at 24x30 and the Standard & poor s 500 Index slipped 4.35 to 444.58.declines outnumbered advances 1,309-973 among the 2,616 issues traded. Weekly big Board volume totaled1,207,384,566 shares up from 1,529, 487,013 traded a week earlier and from1,074,148,864 in the same week a year ago. Stocks closed lower in heavy trading monday after a late flurry of computer guided sell programs foiled the Market said to overcome losses tied to profit taking following the previous week s huge  Dow retreated 4.60 to 3437.54. But the Dow transportation average managed to add 4.03 Points to 1589.61, extending its Streak of record setting closes Toa fourth session.
