The Blond Blue eyed 21-year-old actress says she s flattered that folks Back Home in Denmark have been calling her that for years. Garbo vaulted from Sweden to movie Star. Dom. They started saying that and began talk about me coming to America she says. To hear that is kind of a Burden and a thrill and silly and flattering Roos said in a phone interview from Hollywood. A lot of things. It s kind of Sweet. People in scandinavian countries Are always really excited about someone from Scandinavia they think will have a Chance to do something bigger outside especially if it is in America. I never thought that far. I m More interested in just working. That s what i care robs who says she s too Busy to have a Boyfriend has been acting since she was 3. Her parents Erik Overbye and Gerd Roos worked in film production. When scripts called for a child they d grab whoever was around she says. An inauspicious beginning. Most recently Roos made three episodes of hotel room for Home Box office. Director David Lynch set them in room 603 of the Railroad hotel in the decades of the 1930s, 60s and 90s, with Roos and a Young Irish actor Park Brawly in All three. Roos Speaks half a dozen languages. In hotel room Roos costumes Are uniforms not her favorite thing to love clothes she a i got to Wear some wonderful period dresses in some movies. But Dan ish films Are almost always about the Middle class and the poor. They re not quite As gloomy As ing mar when she was a child she recalls i always loved wearing dresses and Little hats having makeup put on me the whole she especially remembers a pair of Gold shoes. I loved them. I wanted to Wear them to but the role called for a poor child so they dyed the shoes Brown. It was very she went off with a circus when she was 14. I threw knives at another girl did magic tricks was a Clown All kinds of stuff. My folks thought it was of. When finished High school and was 18, i travelled for a year. That was fun. I Felt at Home almost everywhere. That year i was t sure what. I was going to do. I came Back arid decided i did want to go on doing last summer she had a sudden no Tion to take up fencing. I have done yoga and dance to work out she says. I thought i d try something most theater schools teach fencing she says so i thought i d give it a she met Steve Tannenbaum her personal manager five or six years ago when he was searching Europe for Young actresses. He asked her to move to America but she had school and travel on her Agenda. She stayed in touch and finally worked some thing out. I fell in love with new York completely she says. I knew right away i wanted to stay and spend More time she can t talk about upcoming projects but one script takes place in new York. I Don t know they often shoot in Chicago or Montreal because it s she s pleased that her 20-year-old brother is mov ing to Colorado where hell be a chef. A younger brother is 10 and an older half brother lives in Scandinavia. She s the third generation in her family on her Mother s Side to work in movies but she s the first to act. Her late Grandfather Karl Roos was a Pioneer filmmaker and two uncles Jorgon Roos and Henning Carlson arc renowned in Europe As directors. Almost everybody in the family has been involved in Cinema. My parents arc production managers which is like what producers do Here i think. They hire everybody and make budgets and on the set they say what shots to do when she came to America she added her Mother s Maiden name Roos to Camilla Overbye. I Al ways Felt a lot closer to Mother s Side of the she thought it would be kind of silly to suddenly change her name in Denmark but the move to America provided the Opportunity. Actually in Denmark when people get married it is just As common for people to keep their own last name or the Man to take on the woman s Camilla Overbye Roos of Denmark at clockwise from top her l a.
