It just took a Long a Brady was on an All night stakeout following a rash of robberies when incidents occurred that put him on the threshold of the Jailhouse door. Spec. William e. Brueck a 3rd inf div Soldier had been drinking heavily. After Midnight Brueck was spotted driving 86 Mph on Rose Barracks in Vilseck. Military police gave Chase. Brady and his partner Cpl. Charles d. Chester were alerted via radio and set up a Roadblock on a German Road Between Rose Barracks and Amberg. When Brueck veered to avoid the Roadblock and headed toward them Brady and Chester both opened fire pumping 16 shots into the night. Eleven shots hit the car. One Bullet traced to Bradys gun hit a Back seat passenger neither Brady nor Chester had seen. Pfc. Matthew Pomeroy who also had been drinking but said he did not know Brueck had passed out in the Back seat of the car. A Bullet entered his Back. An investigation ended with Brady being charged with unlawful use of deadly Force. Regulation allows the use of deadly Force Only in self defense or the defense of others. Brady said thursday that the possibility of jail naturally worried him. Yet he was confident he was in the right. In an interview from his Hospital bed three Days after the shooting Pomeroy said doctors told him the Bullet missed by a centimetre of paralysing him. Recent efforts to reach Pomeroy were unsuccessful but Brady who has never spoken with the Man he shot said he. The letter also was discarded after the hearing in Virginia. Brady is still fighting a poor evaluation that was placed in his record because of the incident. He is due to leave Germany in july but his Transfer will take place next month because of ill feelings.
