A plus she is a Ann Landers dear Ann Landers i read the column with All those letters from the teen agers in a rehab Center in California and it brought tears to my eyes. Its terrific that those Young men and women Are getting help with their addictions and Are determined to stay clean. My name is Lincoln w. War Kocz and i am a drug addict who has been crying out for help for 15 years. I come from the streets of Miami where drugs and crime Are a Way of life for kids like me. 1 have been in trouble with the Law since i was 13 because of my addiction. I was put in juvenile Hall More times than i can remember. 1 went to jail for the first time when i was 17, and have been in and out four times since then. I have spent at least 10 years of my life behind bars. I now feel As if i have no Chance of living a decent life. After my first incarceration i was out on the Street and Back in jail within a few months. The judge then sentenced me to serve time in a correctional prison that had a drug treatment program but i was not sent there. I went instead to a correctional facility that at that time had no drug treatment program. So again i was institutionalized without receiving help for my addiction. I was Back in prison two More times and then in october 1991, i landed in front of a judge who sentenced me to seven years in prison which was supposed to include a drug treatment program. Again something went wrong and i ended up at another prison that has no drug treatment program. When i complained to the authorities Here they said and that was the end of it. I have decided that the Florida state prison system does not care about helping people get rehabilitated and this is Why there is so much trouble Here. I am signing my name to this letter and it is of with me if you want to print it. I want you to know that i am a real person who is trying to speak out for All of those like me who want to get off drugs and live a decent life but can to get the help we need to do it. Lincoln w. Warkocz Hardee correctional institution Bowling Green Fla. Dear Lincoln thank you very much for writing to me. I was very much impressed by your excellent handwriting and by the Way you expressed yourself. Not Only was your grammar perfect but so was your spelling. It amazed me that a fellow who has spent so much time behind bars was Able to turn out such a Fine letter. And now i would like to hear from someone in the Florida state prison system who will answer some of the questions you have raised. It May Well be that drug related crime is the greatest social problem that faces this country in the ?T90s, and i would like to know what prison authorities across the nation Ore doing about it.
