Dixon one of the worlds Premier indoor runners raced to her 10th straight Victory and 11th Overall in the women a 400 meters winning easily in 53.16. The 10 consecutive wins tied the meet record held by race Walker Henry Laskau and the 11 Overall titles matched the meet record for one event held by shot Putter Pat Mcdonald. The most victories by an athlete in the meet is 12, by Nancy Cowperthwaite who did it in three events a the hurdles High jump and Long jump. Joyner Kersee whose indoor Long jump Best is 23-0, took Only two of her six jumps electing to pass the other four. Her other jump of 22-414 also would have been Good enough to win. Finn and Torrence were locked in a hard fought Duel in the women a 60 meters. Leroy Burrell the former world indoor record Holder in the menus 60-meter dash overcame a slow Start and won in 6.55, Matching the meet record he set earlier As the first four finishers were separated by Only .03 seconds. Tony Dees won his second National 60-meter hurdles title in three years pulling away from Renaldo Nehemiah and clocking 7.51. Nehemiah ran 7.60. Sonja Fitts of St. Johns broke her american indoor record in the women a 20-Pound weight throw with a toss of 62-10. In winning her second straight National title in an event that has been conducted for Only two years in the 104-year-old championships Fitts broke the Mark of 60-73/4 she set on feb. 2.
