There Are 146 questions in the Survey. Out of these questions two dealt with the Quality of ones marriage. Your headline gives the appearance of sensationalism. The army needs information directly from spouses about family programs services and their satisfaction with the army Way of life. It would be unfortunate if even one spouse did not Complete and return this Survey because of your article. The army is very serious about its responsibilities to families and these Survey results will have an Impact on How and what Type of services families will be provided in future deployments. I ask that All those who received surveys Complete and return them. Please feel free to skip any questions you done to wish to answer. We care about what families have to say. A Brig. Gen. Raymond t. Roe commander . Army Community and family support Cente thanks Gaby after Many months of unsuccessfully ordering shoes through the mail i decided to try the Exchange. Just As i expected there were no shoes in my size. Special ordering was suggested but the thought made me rationalize that i could wait one More year. I took the Challenge though and met Gaby. She assured me that shed get All the needed information and Call me. At that moment i knew it would be another year. To my Surprise Gaby phoned the same Day with All the information. I was Able to order the shoes and i received them before the scheduled arrival Date. Many thanks to Gaby at the Ramstein Exchange special order when the shoe did no to fit. A Subrena b. Alford Ramstein German few second chances i am writing in regard to the article a students learning to b All they can be a about Zaragoza High schools Success Endeavor program in Zaragoza Spain. Until this past october i attended Zaragoza High school As a Junior. I went through the program for eight weeks then had to move to Aviano Italy. The program had both Good and bad Points but the majority of the students could count the Good on Only one hand. Some of the Good Points higher grades eventually learning of the material passing the classes and students grades looking Good on their College applications. Some of the bad Points if you get less than 80 percent on a test you relearn the material but at the same time you Are learning new material with the rest of the class. You have to cram All the work together and still try to pass both tests. Students Are not necessarily studying harder either. Most of them just study a Little and think a Well if i done to pass it this time ill just take it additionally what happens when students Transfer to a new school they Are so used to retesting that they have to try harder just to get Back into the old Way of learning. Many students including me said a you done to always get second chances later on in How Many times will someone say a wok you can have another Chance a not Many. If you mess up at a Job interview you wont be told to a come Back tomorrow and do it although getting Good grades is wonderful the Success Endeavor is not the Best Way of going about it. It is not preparing us very Well for a future in which you done to frequently get second chances. He probably would think of participation in the Nijm Egen March As a waste of Money. How about the army marksmanship team or the Golden Knight or the army boxing program does he consider these a waste the purpose of these organizations and competitions is to Foster Esprit de corps professional development and Public relations. They also provide those with certain skills an Opportunity to develop them and exhibit them. Granted none of these competitions will directly affect the unit the Soldier belongs to nor will it improve the food or the marksmanship program but it goes a Long Way pc instill Pride and Foster teamwork and discipline that Are the keys to the military Way of life. This writer would be surprised How proud the soldiers of a unit Are when the Cooks win an award. I know in a a food service sergeant. A sgt. 1st class John r. Overcash or. Bamberg German culinary Competition 1 am compelled to reply to a recent opinion concerning the Usa eur culinary Competition. The writer questioned How the Competition could improve service in dining facilities. The compulsory Garrison and Field events test those tasks that Are required of Cooks in Garrison and Field kitchens. The Many soldiers who practice their skills and compete in these events have a positive Impact on food Quality in their dining facilities. The other 11 categories of Competition All require skill and discipline. They also work toward letters to the editor building the soldiers self esteem. The Competition is the Only vehicle for soldiers to meet certain requirements of the army a apprenticeship program for Cooks and civilian certification programs. The expense of the entire program including the fort Lee Competition is substantially less than it costs to Send one platoon of tanks through tank gunnery. The culinary program is open to All the food service soldiers in . Army in Europe. Yes Only nine competitors will go to fort Lee but All strive to be Usa eur team members. About the a fat try checks a there will be none a the Usa eur team will stay in Barracks on Post. The writers reference to food being a slopped into and out of Fermi test indicates dissatisfaction with his dining facility. A substandard dining facility is a leadership Challenge that cannot be solved on the editorial Page. A master sgt. Gerald r. Thompson m Heidelberg German keeping the Faith i am a Black american male. I went to the Frankfurt Burger King about two weeks ago and had a rather enlightening experience. I entered the toilet and two kids were using the facilities one at the urinal and one inside a stall. I went into the stall next to his so he never saw me but his big brother did. The Little brother ran out of his stall and pulled big brother Over to show him an inscription on the Wall. He said a this says a the Only Good Black Man is a dead Nigger signed his brother in the meantime was desperately trying to shush him up. The Little boy went on to say a that can to be True or we have . he looked up and saw me about this time. I smiled and they both ran out. When i entered the lobby i saw them with their Mother at a table. They smiled and pointed to me. I smiled too like a co conspirator with a secret no one else knows but us. I Hope those kids grow up and keep the Faith. They renewed my Faith that maybe there a a Chance for this world As crazy As that might seem. In a still smiling today. A Donald w.
